11yo DD wetting bed

So I'm after some advice. My 11 year old Daughter has wet the bed twice this year. I know that's not a lot but its not happened before. just looking for any advice? Any know what could cause it? How do I deal with this? Shes far too embarrassed to talk about it. The first time it happened I found the wet bed. This morning she just text me,asking me to change her bedding, then rushed off to school (she walks herself).

Is she being bullied

Mookatron · 27/03/2019 10:34

I'd take her to the GP with a urine sample to rule out infection first, and then be asking questions about what's Haltwhistle at school etc.

Haltwhistle?? Happening, sorry!

A bit more back ground... We moved accross the country due to hubby being military. The move has been rubbish. She struggled at first but is happier and more settled now. I'm always asking about friends a prying into her life. she tells me a bit but is a very private child.

My concern is that it could be due to the upheaval, or that shes just not happy in general. if this is the case (obviously will take her to the GP to rule out bladder issues) where would i seek help?

Constipation is a common cause of bedwetting. Faeces may even appear normal.

Member984815 · 27/03/2019 18:41

I was going to say constipation too , it can cause this . I'd take a sample of urine to the gp to rule out infection

GoingToInfinity · 27/03/2019 18:56

Threadworms can also cause bed wetting too, so you want to rule that out as a cause too.

sweetsaltypopcorn · 27/03/2019 18:59

I started wetting the bed when I was 10 - turns out I had undiagnosed type 1 diabetes.

fleshmarketclose · 27/03/2019 19:00

Could be epilepsy as well so she definitely needs to see a GP.

LaBelleSauvage · 27/03/2019 19:01

Think a trip to the GP is a good idea OP :)

HavelockVetinari · 27/03/2019 19:02

Take her to the GP to rule out a medical issue. Other causes can be bullying, sexual abuse, severe emotional trauma.

My DSD did this until she was 13 Sad

We are also military and I think it was Psychological.

Stopped when she started her periods sort of which is quite common.

She used to have an accident nearly every weekend we had her.

She had pills at one point and still has the waterproof sheet in the bed now.

I was a late bed wetter, until like 12 years old. In my case it was just not being able to wake up, I was dead to the world. At some point in time my body decided that it was time to start waking me up.

Definitely GP visit to rule out type one diabetes, bladder infection, etc.
