Do you hate where you live?

Why?

Love where I live in the uk, lots of work, good schools, great amenities, lots to do for my teenage daughter, the best of both worlds, great country side but also live very close to the city with theatre, cinema, shopping and many other activities available all on my doorstep and if you want something different London is 30 mins on the train

No - we live in central London and love everything about our house and neighbourhood but due to Brexit we’re now planning on leaving but can’t work out (agree) on where to move to.

I do and I don’t.

It is very cheap cost of living/renting. We both have very good specialist jobs that would be hard to find anywhere else but it’s very very rural. It’s a 6 hour drive south to the major city I grew up in and I also moved up here after living a couple of years in London. So going from that to this. I miss restaurants that sell more than pub food. I miss my family and friends (although I have friends here).

I think plan is another 4/5 years then head to the central belt. I just feel so ungrateful as everyone is so nice here and help me feel included and I’m just counting down until I can leave.

I do enjoy all the outdoor activities I do that I wouldn’t have as easy as access anywhere else.

no - why would you live somewhere you hate - why not move?

Yes.
Although I was ok with it until my last local family member passed away. Now I feel rootless despite living here all my life .
Secondaries aren't great and some of my neighbours are a nightmare.

Oh Cabbage - money!! Not being able to afford a nicer area.... obvious really!

@PlainSpeakingStraightTalking do you live in Kent by any chance... sounds like you are describing the town I moved to nearly two years ago. I'm a South Londoner 😁

@carear you got a good explanation from @linoleumblownapart. It's known to be a safe place with free schools and all. But I will never feel home because of the locals. I am also very tired of live revolving around the cold weather.

@Parker231 what if Brexit doesn't happen? Is there any solution to stay? You will miss London wherever you go especially if you are happy there!

@moumoute - we will probably still leave although we talked about it so much, I’m no longer certain what is and isn’t a good idea. I have an EU passport although I’ve lived in the UK since I was five. DH is French Canadian and came to the UK as a student. As so glad now that we didn’t get UK passports. DT’s were born here and are in UK Uni’s although neither plan on getting jobs here. I work for an international company and can work anywhere but DH is a doctor so some limitations on where he is qualified to work.

moumoute linoleumblownapart wow, really didn't know that or even think that it would even be like that. How strange. I could understand why you'd feel fed up after awhile. I guess there's good and bad in every place you live.
