I am the only bridesmaid for a friend. I need a Sunday day time activity. It cannot cost the earth (30pp max) and it cannot be York dungeon as the bride is scared of it. Hmm
I am really struggling and she is putting the pressure on about how excited she is.
We are doing an escape room on the Saturday. It is in October there is 13 of us.
Anything anyone would recommend?

What is she into? Surely that’s a starting point. Or any in jokes? Marrying someone of a particular occupation or has a hobby or passion for something?

LoisLittsLover · 25/03/2019 20:56

Cpuld you split into 2 teams and have a competirion for instance have different challenges with varying amounts of points - group photo with police man (1 point), all team members in a phone booth (2 points) all in a shop window (3 points) erc

BlueSkiesLies · 25/03/2019 20:57

Standard hen part stuff like cocktail making, naked life drawing, scavenger hunt

Or what about a nice walk with a pub lunch at the end/middle?

sleepismysuperpower1 · 25/03/2019 20:57

could you do something like this maybe? all dress in 90s clothes?

Treasure hunt

My friend's DD had a treasure hunt, similar to what Lois describes ie with teams, and points gained for performing certain tasks.

Cookery class.

Llama walking.

buzzbobbly · 25/03/2019 21:10

Chocolate workshop or specialist cookery class?

jackstini · 25/03/2019 21:10

Groupon for spa day, afternoon tea or similar? Some good deals that are under £30pp

You will be hungover and tired! Everyone will be grateful for the chance to veg so I would say-classic girly movies, face masks and pick n mix.
Or flower crowns are good-wire and artificial flowers not expensive and they make a good photo.
Or decoupage some massive letters you can get from hobbeycraft and then display at the wedding on the bar or something.
If you have enough space then live action hungry hungry hippos is hilarious-you need two skateboards (Ebay) two ironing baskets and some of those kids plastic ball pool balls. One person lies on skateboard holding basket and her team use her legs to aim her.

hiptobeasquare · 25/03/2019 21:12

Thanks everyone. Pottery painting might be a good shout. She is into walks and dancing and chilling out with a cuppa. I am wary about the weather if I plan a walk.

I personally would love Llama walking. Grin

I'm going to one where we'll be making a memory type scrap book for the hen. Itll take a few hours and were doing it in a function room in a pub so people can have a drink. So crafty and something for her to take away. Its by a company called crafty hen

LRL2019 · 25/03/2019 21:17

Afternoon tea at Betty's?

ItsMeImKathyIveComeHomeNow · 25/03/2019 21:17

I love the sound of live hungry hippos! We had a great weekend playing charades with this guy, www.amazon.co.uk/Whos-Dude-Hilarious-Double-Charade/dp/B06XNTQBBQ?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

My other suggestion was going to be high ropes wiredropes.co.uk/ but it may not be the thing if you're worried about the weather.

BobIsNotYourUncle · 25/03/2019 21:20

Afternoon tea? I’ve done pottery painting on a hen weekend, it’s a good option. We made a plate for the bride as well as our own beautiful um... designs.

Leeds2 · 25/03/2019 21:20

hip, the llamas I walked lived in a pub! After we had walked them, we retired inside for a drink! "Twas lovely! I think you can do alpaca walking too.

hiptobeasquare · 25/03/2019 21:23

Air Mass, that sounds like a great idea! Then we could just chill out in a nice pub for the afternoon.

The chocolate Museum tour in York is lovely.

hiptobeasquare · 25/03/2019 21:31

Seastargirl, I’ve heard mixed reviews about it so I disregarded it.

On my hen do we did a workshop run by a company called the crafty hen - we did nipple tassel making which was hilarious, but if that’s not the brides sort of thing they also do flower crowns, bunting, knickers etc. It was great fun. As others say, day 2 you’re likely to be hungover and want to chill so prob not something too active.

The treasure hunt with points for different things is also good - eg photo of a team member wearing a local sports team shirt, finding various items and bringing them back, getting video evidence of the team doing something slightly silly etc. Did this on a couple of hen dos I’ve been on and it’s a laugh, and great to get to know people if the group is a mix of people who haven’t met before.

Mitzgerald · 25/03/2019 21:45

Treasure hunt (as mentioned above)

Look into local yoga studios and see if they could do a group thing for you.

Walking tour- we did the bloody tour of York. It was good fun. Don't worry it's not scary and mad Alice is hilarious!

Are there any bicycle tours you could do?
