Been talking to a guy for a month.
Organised a date next week.
He text today asking if I fancied lunch a cocktail down the sea front.
I have zero plans,it's a lovely day so I said yes.
I never do things like this
Do I go?
I've told him I'm dressed casual and he said so we are going to the beach ..ha
Or do I stick to the original day next week?

Go but stay soberish you don’t want beer or wine goggles at work :)

Jaxinthebox · 24/03/2019 12:47

I hope you have gone and are enjoying yourself. Stay safe and by the time I come back later I hope to read a great update about your date by the seaside.

LividLaughLove · 24/03/2019 12:48

Of course go!

Send a friend his pic and phone number in advance. And if you know anything about him at all, which you will after a month, I'm assuming you've online stalked him enough to know some more.

Also, word of caution. Nobody is ever the same in RL as you've imagined them before you met. It's inevitable to build them into someone they aren't, especially after a month of messages. Hope it's a good date!

youknowmedontyou · 24/03/2019 12:52

Go go go, enjoy the sunshine and don't forget to let us know how it went Smile

brizzlemint · 24/03/2019 12:55

YABU as it's too cold for the beach but otherwise, go for it with the precautions that others have said. Report back, we need all the gossip detail.

TheSassyAssassin · 24/03/2019 12:59

Ooh like a live date thread. Loo update is mandatory OP Grin Hope you have a good time and enjoy the sunshine!

nettie434 · 24/03/2019 13:08

Sounds perfect and an ideal place for a 1st date - hope it goes well and if you don’t hit it off, you will have a spent a nice afternoon in the spring sunshine at the seaside. Sounds like a win!

Order654 · 24/03/2019 13:16

Do it Wine

Excited101 · 24/03/2019 13:46

Of course! That’s how online dating works!

Rottencooking · 24/03/2019 13:52

Hope it goes well!

ButtMuncher · 24/03/2019 14:03

Hope you're having fun OP! I did this with my ex - we had been talking for all of a few hours and he asked when I had free - I only had the Monday (day we were talking) and Friday so went with the Monday and after 6 hours of talking we were putting the world to rights over a drink. Was lovely - so much less expectation than the nerves leading up to a date.

TeaForTheWin · 24/03/2019 14:06

Sure, as long as it's in a public place. These sorts of things are usually safe enough. Best meet during the day, in public and avoid alcohol though. Good luck!

aliicel · 24/03/2019 16:30

I'm home
It was good he paid for the food and got me a cocktail.
He was nice but I couldn't stop staring at his nose hair ...it was actually growing outside his nose like hanging out the nostril.
Apart from that he was nice enough.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 24/03/2019 16:44

Glad you are back safe n sound OP.....the nose hair thing though....lol

John470322 · 24/03/2019 16:56

He was nice but I couldn't stop staring at his nose hair ...it was actually growing outside his nose like hanging out the nostril.
He can easily deal with that. My wife occasionally tells me that I need to cut mine, mostly I see it when I am shaving and get busy with scissors (I thing nose hair looks disgusting)

TheSassyAssassin · 24/03/2019 17:17

Hmm "nice enough" doesn't sound like you have a burning desire to see him again though OP? Glad you had a reasonable afternoon though Smile

aliicel · 24/03/2019 18:00

I'm going to see him again
He has asked me out again
Tbh it's the best date I've had in ages and he was a really lovely guy, really polite and just a nice person so il give it another whir.

I decided to meet my husband about 2 hours before we met up was due to meet the following day but i ended up at a loose end on the Saturday night.

CheekyChappy710 · 24/03/2019 18:03

Don't judge him by his nose hair you can always convince him to whack it out once you know him a bit more Haha he probably doesn't even realise

aliicel · 24/03/2019 18:15

Deffo gonna go out again
We had loads of conversation,no awkward silences or anything.

Livpool · 24/03/2019 18:21

Sounds like a great date to me - nose hair aside!

I used to love dates like that when I was single - less time to get nervous!!

shellysheridan · 24/03/2019 18:25

Sounds great! Maybe he just doesn't realise about the nose hair. Easily fixed

Jaxinthebox · 24/03/2019 18:31

the nose hair can be dealt with, everything else seems ok... it was a first date/meet up. Good for you for going OP.

O4FS · 24/03/2019 18:34

Sounds great. ‘Nice’ is an underrated quality.

Hope you have a lovely second date!

TheSassyAssassin · 24/03/2019 18:50

Ooh well that sounds like a really positive outcome! Good for you. Hope you have a great second date! slip some nose clippers in your bag in case an opp arises Wink
