‘Dr Evil’ gets 40 months in prison

I hate this kind of body modification and it should be regulated much better. But surely the right course of action with such a grey area of law was a caution to start with.
I’ve just watched some videos of him and his family and it is so sad.

I agree.

I dont know who's more stupid. Dr Evil or his patients. Which idiot in their right mind would pay someone to perform cosmetic surgery without a single medical qualification? Who gives a shit if his work is good or if hes clean? He's a tattooist...performing surgery. Absolute stupidity at its finest.

SmallFastPenguin · 21/03/2019 21:01

I understand why this is illegal but it seems a very unfair sentence considering it was all what the customers wanted and signed for. People who rob and commit gbh have got community service or suspended sentences. On the plus side a tattooist with the nickname Dr Evil will probably get on ok in prison.

TroysMammy · 21/03/2019 21:02

Why on earth did that man want his ear removed? He'd be fooked if he needs glasses.

Urgh2019 · 21/03/2019 21:04

If you watch the clips they say it’s a grey area of law. Surely they should start by clarifying the law and then going for prosecution.
They are obviously using him as an example.

FruitCider · 21/03/2019 21:08

He performed minor surgery and used medicine (local anaesthetic) without appropriate licensing or training, of course he should be sent to prison for this!

BUT

More interestingly, which HCP was prescribing him lidocaine knowing it's use was illegal? Why haven't they also been punished?

YouBumder · 21/03/2019 21:09

He’s certainly been made an example of and the sentence is on the high side but given he admitted multiple counts of GBH I can’t imagine a caution would have been a reasonable response. He’s bloody lucky that no one died or ended up with a dreadful infection after his antics!

FruitCider · 21/03/2019 21:09

Its also illegal to call yourself a dr, if you are not a dr...

NigelYerABawbag · 21/03/2019 21:11

Seems harsh when a man who battered his girlfriend, caused catastrophic injury to her vagina by penetrating her with a carpet cleaner spray, then left her bleeding to death at the bottom of the stairs and didn't call an ambulance til the next morning and claimed as his defence that she consented because she enjoyed rough sex only got 44 months Confused

40 months for carrying out body modification with all necessary safety precautions, on paying customers who had given written consent, seems fucking harsh in the light of that!

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 21/03/2019 21:12

Why on earth did that man want his ear removed? He'd be fooked if he needs glasses

I read that and spat out my coke everywhere laughing. I hadn’t thought of that!

FruitCider · 21/03/2019 21:13

40 months for carrying out body modification with all necessary safety precautions,

Eh? What part of

  • no training
  • no license
  • illegal use of medicine

Did you not understand?

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 21/03/2019 21:13

@NigelYerABawbag That’s a really good point.

Billballbaggins · 21/03/2019 21:14

Well it isn’t actually a grey area really, legally you cannot consent to GBH (tattoos and branding used to be a grey area but were clarified in R v Wilson as being different as they are superficial) whereas what this guy did goes way beyond that; he was mutilating people and you cannot consent to that.

A licenced and trained medical professional is another matter, this guy had no business doing this to anyone even with their consent.

He pleaded guilty anyway.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 21/03/2019 21:16

@FruitCider I think it’s more the with consent of people, them asking for it to be done etc, was more the example compared to what that guy inflicked on that poor women

SmallFastPenguin · 21/03/2019 21:16

He should have got his evil doctorate. He can study for it in prison in between doing prison tattoos.

Billballbaggins · 21/03/2019 21:16

Seems harsh when a man who battered his girlfriend, caused catastrophic injury to her vagina by penetrating her with a carpet cleaner spray, then left her bleeding to death at the bottom of the stairs and didn't call an ambulance til the next morning and claimed as his defence that she consented because she enjoyed rough sex only got 44 months confused

This sentence isn’t harsh, the sentence in that case you’re referring to is ridiculously lenient, though, and he should have been done for murder and put away for life.

FruitCider · 21/03/2019 21:25

Snowy you can't give consent to an illegal procedure, the consent is not valid.

NigelYerABawbag · 21/03/2019 21:27

It was the same court that gave those two sentences.

And obviously rapey murderer should've got life. Obviously.

But the sentences given basically are the same.

Ragnarthe · 21/03/2019 21:35

I don't think it's sad or a shame. What he did was illegal, someone could have suffered serious harm like disability or death. He was unqualified and uninsured.
I don't feel sorry for him.
The other case was a joke and the sentence was a scandal.
That has no bearing on this.
I suspect there is an element of example making here too.

StoneofDestiny · 21/03/2019 21:40

Nigel
It's not that Dr Evil's sentence is too long, the sentence of the violent thug who battered and abused his partner is too short.

Urgh2019 · 21/03/2019 22:04

I watched a clip saying it was under a grey area. The same that covers tattoos and boxing
He was obviously massively stupid and misguided but the judge even said he was being used as an example.
There must be a lot of people performing body modifications, I wonder how many of them are being prosecuted.

Would he have gotten an even longer sentence if he had pleaded not guilty?

OP posts:
Ragnarthe · 21/03/2019 22:06

If they are performing illegal ones they should be prosecuted.

BlackPrism · 21/03/2019 22:27

He could've killed them. There is a vein through the fucking tongue and if hit you can bleed out.
Also, why the fuck voluntarily removes their ear? You need that to hear things... you are maiming yourself!

He deserves prison as a deterrent to any other idiot who thinks it's legal to perform surgery on someone without a fucking medical licence.

StoneofDestiny · 22/03/2019 09:41

Well, maybe others who are maiming people unnecessarily will think twice now!
