Taking my kids on the People's march

My 9 and 12 yr old are keen to march on Saturday, as am I (and my 77 yr old mother!). However, we won't get to London until about 1.30pm earliest.
Is it still worth just finding the route and joining in? I have an appointment later, so my very capable Mum will take the kids home.
Is this a mad idea or perfectly doable? I've never been on a march before

Fine. The march will be massive - the back of the march probably still won't have left the start at that point.

Consider a variety of routes home - with so many people , they may close some stations temporarily to deal with overcrowding or have managed queuing. May be best to walk further away at the end to use a less busy tube.

Yes it is still worth it. The march was quite slow in october and we were able to give ds a run around a park before strapping him in his pushchair before joining. I’d suggest to anyone with children to walk along the edges so you can getnout if you need food/toilets etc. We’ll be going with ds who is now 3 and my mum who is 76.

We were planning to go with 1 and 3 year d but baby has a horrible she's not shifting and toddler's toilet training is at quite an early stage so we've reluctantly pulled out.

I had toddler's sign planned and everything. He was going to have a Hey Duggee "I've got my protest badge" one!

I'm taking my 7 yr old daughter and we won't get there until about 2ish but, I still feel it is worth making the train journey, even if it means we only get there in time for the rally at the end - it's so important for my daughter's future. Good advice about walking along the edges. Thank you!

I am taking my 2 x 78 year old parents. We are travelling down from Manchester. I have plenty of coins for the loos :) and a bottle of wine for the trip back. If it gets too bonkers - plan B is to march a bit lunch a bit. Having said that the October march had less violence than the village May Queen.

I think it’ll be fine - my husband is flying from Glasgow to go so I think there’ll be a fine crowd. He’s been advised to take food and toilet roll (bizarrely, but makes sense) - I’d definitely take mine if I could.

I wouldn't take kids. A march (or any kind of 'peaceful' protest) can get very ugly, very quickly. People may be drinking/angry/police may turn up and get aggressive etc.

It's not the place for children. It is a worthy cause though I agree.

I'm taking my DD who is 11 and is insisting on going. The last one was so slow and peaceful it was great, the only whiff of danger was a group of Brexiteers at parliament square, so we might just stay for an hour and then peel off. It was really easy to leave/join last time so I hope it will be like that again. Might drop off some flowers at the NZ embassy too, we walked right past it last time.

My dh and 11yr old dd are going. I can't have to stay with other 2 dc who have things they have to do. Go if you can, not sure how much it will do but important anyway.

Did it all go smoothly for everyone? We didn't make it to the end but I told them it all still counts.
Getting away on the tube was easier than I expected

It was lovely I thought, always a nice crowd. We stopped at Trafalgar Square tho, as couldn’t see how we would all fit into parliament square.
