To ask for and advice re dd because I’m worried!

Dd had a confirmed UTI - E. coli - nearly two weeks ago for which she had a week’s course of antibiotics.
Once we stopped the antibiotics the symptoms have come back and she is strongly positive for leukocytes (white blood cells) but negative for nitrates. Hence the gp doesn’t care. One gp told me it was a concern and dd would need an ultrasound but the next said they wouldn’t do anything in the absence of bacteria no longer being present.

We are going abroad in a fortnight and as it stands I wouldn’t take dd because she was quite unwell initially and I’m worried she is going to be unwell again as she is complaining that is stinging to wee like she did at the start of it before.

What should I do? Call the gp again tomorrow? A sample they took on Monday was clear but she’d only just finished the antibiotics then.

I dipped a sample at home today and the white blood cells are the strongest possible level (already had the strips because of a pre existing medical condition of my own). They were pretty strong on Wednesday when I spoke to the gp last and the gp just said ‘well you wouldn’t know if you hadn’t checked her urine yourself’. Yes but that’s not really the point is it?!

Sorry - posted for traffic. Hoping someone with experience of this may have advice.

There is definitely no abuse happening!
She’s with me nearly all the time and this is the first time she’s ever had anything like this! Blimey...

She hasn’t complained today of any issues and I checked her wee this morning and it only showed trace levels so I guess just wait it out and see?
I’m not convinced it has gone though.

Go to the sweet cures website
D mannose is your friend.

I promise I don’t work for them.

My dd have issues with white blood cells and nitrites for months. Simple cure for her She was constipated and didn’t drink enough fluid.

6 months on d mannose and fluid intake monitored plus laxido for constipation have transformed her.

2 years on problem free. Fingers crossed

Definitely worth considering.

I also don't work for d mannnose sugar but I buy mine off Amazon and it worked with my UTI when other stuff would not. Also it doesn't taste foul so she should happily have it

Thanks - I will get some of the d mannose stuff! Worth a go...

She still positive for leukocytes but at slightly lower levels and hasn’t complained about stinging this weekend so I’m not sure what to do now. Whether to wait it out another few days or ring gp again tomorrow. She obviously isn’t clear 100% and it’s a fortnight since she had the UTI so I’d have hoped it would have gone by now.

Friend’s DD had this, she ended up having an ultrasound to check there were no hidden issues then a 6 week prophylactic course and that cleared it up, no problems since.

I’ve ordered some d mannose so will try that.

Leukocytes are as positive as they can be this morning so something definitely doesn’t seem right.
