It’s just bitter or overly sweet...

My interest in chocolate has gradually declined over the years... I still really like it, but nowadays I'd be more likely to have a bag of crisps, or a piece of cheese, if I wanted a naughty snack.

It's also because my teeth are quite sensitive, and very sugary things irritate them.

Mustbetimeforachange · 21/03/2019 08:08

I'm with the poster who doesn't like it as much as they think they are going to. Plus it gives me terrible heartburn, so I rarely eat it. Does anyone else get that?

x2boys · 21/03/2019 08:42

I don't really well I don't mind a bit but I can take if or leave it tbh, crisps however......

CornishMaid1 · 21/03/2019 09:00

Good quality chocolate is amazing. I have some 70% dark with sea salt from Hotel Chocolat in my fridge. It is rich and creamy with that sharp hit of salt...mmmmmm.

Not as big a fan of the 'cheap' chocolates like Cadburys though as they do not taste as good although that still wouldn't stop me

PregnantSea · 21/03/2019 09:10

What?

KrazyKatlady · 21/03/2019 09:15

YABU. Isn't chocolate one of the essential food groups or is that only in my house? it has to be nice chocolate though. No milky way, mars or kinnerton...or after eights. Bleugh.

Starlight456 · 21/03/2019 09:17

Because it is full of addictive sugar

Bigonesmallone3 · 21/03/2019 09:17

Because it makes me happy

Lobsterquadrille2 · 21/03/2019 09:44

I can take it or leave it mostly but the few days before my period I've always craved it. My mother loves it, which I find weird as she has no sense of taste as the result of a major head injury.

HorseradishSnowflake · 21/03/2019 18:47

I don't know why but the combination of fat, sugar and cocoa just hits a spot nothing else can. I get very specific chocolate cravings. Sometimes only green and blacks will do, or I might get a kit kat urge. Another time I absolutely HAVE to have home made brownies. But the chocolate part is a theme. I have stood gazing at the chocolate selection for ages when I can't decide what kind of chocolate I need and given a nod of recognition to fellow connoisseurs/ addicts doing the same.

stevie69 · 21/03/2019 18:49

I'm not all that keen to be honest.

Marchinupandownagain · 22/03/2019 00:00

@Billywigsting

Aztec bars, how I miss them...

nocoolnamesleft · 22/03/2019 00:35

Some people say sex is better than chocolate.

Other people say anyone who believes that is doing sex wrong.

I simply believe that the other people are eating the wrong chocolate.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 22/03/2019 00:39

I agree with you OP, chocolate is over rated.

Crisps, however, are like crack cocaine.

Tavannach · 22/03/2019 00:54

Chocolate releases the same chemicals in the body that being in love does.

WaterQuarter · 22/03/2019 01:00

It's the combination of fat and sugar and the coating it leaves on your tongue. I never crave purely sugary things like haribo or fizzy drinks, add some fat and cocoa to the mix however and it's a different story.

RavenLG · 22/03/2019 01:21

I relate to this. We've still got christmas chocolate languishing in the cupboard.. but crisps. I could eat a 12 multipack in an hour.

Plain chocolate is so boring. Put something else with it (i.e biscuit, nuts, raisins) as we can talk

Boredgiraffes · 25/03/2019 01:38

I do agree that crisps are far superior :)

The thought of it at the end of the day keeps me from being had tempered.

Travellinghappy · 25/03/2019 07:42

Not a huge fan of chocolate, only really eat the very dark stuff occasionally. Not a big fan of crisps or biscuits either. Probably one bag of crisps a month and only buy biscuits if someone is coming round for coffee. Why the fuck am I overweight then? May be something to do with a love of cheese.😀
