It's B's right of way but the gap is RIGHT next to them.

A has to reverse back round a windy (badly drawn) road with loads of kids and cars around.

B was shouting all sorts at A after A appeared mildly incredulous that B wasn't reversing. B's wife was frothing that A was incredulous. A was fucking incredulous.

Is A the unreasonable one?

I already think I know true answer to this.

His wife has never learned to drive but insists on coming with him because he can’t be trusted to do the weekly shop

It is B's right of way. To technically A is in the wrong.

I say that but B should have been the one to move as A moving could have been dangerous (in reversing round a bend)

B is a wanker

If I was B I would have moved to let A into the gap. If i was A I would have switched my engine off and waited for B to move Grin

The nice, non-arsehole thing to do would be as previously suggested, B reverses a bit, A nips into the gap, B can then be on his way.

This is the exact way the road into my street is. If there's no gap (which happens fairly often) it can be a real PITA, because there are some inconsiderate buggers about who'd sooner see someone have to reverse right up the street, to avoid them having to do the smallest of reverses to where the road widens.

BoobiesToTheRescue · 21/03/2019 05:56

Was there any cars behind A or B?

No. And in the 30-40 seconds that I waited, I was really hoping a car would come up behind me forcing B to move.

Was this, by any chance, on the way to leaving DC off at a hobby?
No, it was about 2.50 and doing the school pick up.

what happened in the end?
I (A) reversed back. When B drove past, he stopped for a second to shout at mr and wave his hands while I admired the amount of white nose hair he had sprouting from his nose and wondered why his equally shouty wife hadn't ever shouted to him to pluck or shave it.

When this happens to me I put my feet on the dashboard and light up a cigarette

B technically had right of way but should have been nice and gone into the space. The other cars are at fault fir parking on a bend.

Deadbydaylight · 21/03/2019 06:07

I don't think b did have right of way. You had already started your journey past the parked cars. It would be his right of way if he had. But a long queue of parked cars, it's impossible to always give right of way to any car coming towards you, especially in that situation. You will never move if you try.

Either way, b is a twat, so is his wife, and he needs to learn how to reverse.

Alsohuman · 21/03/2019 10:13

Of course B had right of way. The person with right of way is the person whose side of the road is unobstructed by parked vehicles. Some people really shouldn’t be on the road.

BoobiesToTheRescue · 21/03/2019 10:20

It was without doubt, B's right of way.

He was still being a bit of a bum hole though.

B should have reversed. I once switched the engine off and sat there in a similar situation.

Doyouneedthetoilet · 21/03/2019 11:33

I probably would have reversed to let the other car into the gap, the thought of parallel parking fills me with dread.
