I have a funny one

This morning I sat DS22mnth in his highchair with his breakfast while DD6 helped me pack her lunch, I heard 'achoo, achoo, achoo' and look up at him to realise that DH left the pepper on the edge of the table the night before and DS had apparently been able to reach it...... and was shaking the crap out of it and his porridge was almost totally covered in fine pepper.

Luckily he hadn't actually eaten any and luckily I hadn't eaten my breakfast yet so his went in the bin, he got mine and DD laughed her little head off lol.

This will be the last time I will sit DS so close to the table without checking that he can't reach the pepper that's for sure haha.

Worry not Spuds and Stopping! In even later breaking news still, it only went to our local post office. It has promised to wait there until my other half can pick it up on his way home from helping a friend with some fencing later this afternoon.I like this positive thinking lark!

This might be a little bit funny, I was mowing along the front this morning, ear muffs on and looking down watching the blade cover as I turned the corner (ride on) so I wouldn't collect the letterbox with it (rural area).

Anyhow, I got a shock to see a pair of feet/legs running around/away from me on the other side when I looked up.

It appears I very nearly mowed over a jogger.... whilst that in itself isn't funny, when I looked up I realised the other half of him was pretty easy on the eye and that he must have been new to the area as I didn't recognise him.

I thought he was waving at me, so I waved back.

Only then did I realise (the wonker that I am) my lawnmower shoot was blowing grass cuttings and dust all over him and he had his hand up to protect his eyes.....

I felt like a complete nob as I made my quick escape back down our driveway.

Mumsymumphy · 18/03/2019 04:12

It was only when someone told me to stop acting like a flamingo that I decided to put my foot down.

Joke told to me by my 8 year old daughter - who had got the joke off Siri on my phone while I was out of the room! I also had a missed FaceTime call to myself....my (otherwise clever) daughter "wanted to see who would answer if she rang my phone" 🤣

StoppinBy · 18/03/2019 04:20

Hahaha @ expat - might be a good ice breaker.... invite him in to freshen up haha.

I was once given a bike that was far too big, I was 'practicing' riding it round the front yard and looking down at our water meter so I didn't run over it, instead I should have been looking up because I smashed my helmetless head in to a really solid branch of a cypress pine tree and literally just fell on my side off the bike, like a complete and sudden stop hahaha PMSL, my DH just watched on and laughed.

I've worked out why I've been feeling tired (anemia) and handily I had a GP appointment booked today anyway.

barbiegrl · 18/03/2019 06:26

Well it's
My sons 15the birthday today so
Very happy here. We almost lost him at 5 months so the fact that we have got here by the skin of our teeth is amazing-he is healthy, happy and totally teenagers and it's bloody marvelous :) at the weekend we had my daughters birthday treat (she will be 13 on Thursday) so we had two friends sleeping over-lots of love and laughter. It's a glorious day her with sun, birds chirping and lots of blue sky-life is GOOD!

Tinkerbell456 · 18/03/2019 06:31

I have a good one I've been finally signed off from the hospital after years of check ups. I had a tumour that kept coming back and now its finally gone.

I'm also loving being a single mum acter years of ex making me believe I couldn't do it without him and managed to save up for a new dishwasher so no more washing up yay.

Bigonesmallone3 · 18/03/2019 06:44

I'm goin on holiday in less than two weeks and a baby due 10 weeks after that.. I'm looking forward to summer Grin

nrpmum · 18/03/2019 06:46

I had a fabulous Sunday with my dogs, and then booked next year's holiday. On top of that had a few hours with my husband, which is rare 😁

Frouby · 18/03/2019 06:48

I have spent all weekend redecorating my bathroom and its all clean and fresh and shiny.

We took dd (14) shopping for d of e expedition kit yesterday (boots and waterproofs) and it didn't end in a bank loan OR a tantrum from either of us.

And ds is much better after a nasty bug knocked him on his arse Thursday afternoon but he's still not 100% so I am pinching an extra day with him and keeping him at home with me. He's probably fit enough for school but he's only 5 so an extra day at home won't screw his career prospects up. He's absolutely bonkers and funny and loving so I love random days just the 2 of us. We have ponies and the blacksmith is coming this morning so he can come to the stables and chat non stop to us.

So today is a good day.

I do agree about mn being a bit depressing sometimes. I have just scrolled through active and it's all doom and gloom with a good helping of depressing.

speakout · 18/03/2019 06:51

There are some fantstic threads here, I have found some women who lift my spirits.

barbiegrl · 18/03/2019 07:07

Thanks @Tinkerbell456 :)

Poivrotte · 18/03/2019 07:10

My positive news : it looks like after years of suffering of horrendous pms, I have finally found what helps with it. I’m in last few days before my periods arrive and I’m ok !! I have only had moment of very mild irritation. Last time i had my period it was the same ! So it means it’s the second cycle I’m feeling better !!!

Nathansmommy1 · 18/03/2019 08:46

We're in Ireland and my good news is that my 5 year old ds with autism walked in his first st patricks day parade yesterday with the rugby club he joined recently.
He was a little overwhelmed by the crowds and the noise but once his dad was allowed to walk with him, he wanted to take part. Very proud of him Star
And today is a public holiday here so no work Grin got up as usual at 7am with ds to make breakfast but now back in bed Smile 28 weeks pregnant and bed is the only place I can sit/lie comfortably

HennyPennyHorror · 18/03/2019 09:11

Poivrotte · 18/03/2019 09:21

Bought my dream house - well had offer accepted - at price which while still a lot was what we originally thought would have to be a starting point rather than accepted offer. Our EA is brilliant!

PettyContractor · 18/03/2019 13:17

This morning while I was eating breakfast a large healthy furry fox came and peered at me through the sliding glass door that leads to the garden. I hoped he'd stick around for a photo, but he trotted off. I think he was in a hurry to find his own breakfast.

(On a previous occasion I've had a fox sitting on his haunches outside my garage wait for me when I went into the house and fetched my camera. He let me come within several feet and take some pictures, before wondering off. I live in the middle of London and often see foxes, not just near my home but when driving. My most startling sighting from my car was at dusk in rush-hour, having just passed St Pauls Cathedral and heading towards Mansion House tube station, a fox was trotting among a huge crowd of people on the pavement, who all seemed oblivious to him.)

cantbebotheredtoday · 18/03/2019 13:23

I think mumsnet is full of nasty, judgemental woman a lot of the time
