...to not know what to cook that my whole family can eat?

So, these are the dietary ‘requirements’, though some are more like preferences -

Me: pescatarian & gluten free, trying to avoid ‘bad’ carbs
Dh: hates eggs, cheese, aubergines, courgettes, cauliflower, will not call anything like soup & sandwich or jacket potatoes ‘a meal’
Dc1 (4yo): cannot eat anything remotely spicy and also hates eggs
Dc2 (14mo): will not be spoon fed and is very messy if he tries to spoon feed himself. So it really needs to be finger foods to save my sanity and my floor Grin!

It’s not possible is it? To come up with meals we can all eat the same I mean. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Buy a raclette.

If you have not seen one they are a sort of indoor BBQ. You cook at the table, things like meat and fish are cooked on the top. Cheese is melted in little pans underneath that you can also use to cook eggs.

Just have bowls of prepped veg on the table that can be eaten raw or cooked.

Obviously keep the children out of reach of it.

I normally use mine to cook steak with onions and veg so there will be bowls / plates of slices of cheese, onions, peppers, asparagus and a couple of jugs, one containing beaten eggs and the other passata.

I love raclette! But dh HATES cheese. He would make gagging noises at the smell. He would genuinely find it offensive. If I cook eggs he makes “argh” sounds. It’s not just a dislike.

Similar here, husband is pescetarian and no dairy except eggs. I cant have carbs or sugar on doctors orders as I'm pre-diabetic so it's a nightmare. Before he gave up meat and dairy there was lots of meals we could all eat but now I'm struggling. We all ate fish pie but with no dairy it will just be me and the kids eating that.

It is a good suggestion for dcs and me though. Maybe I’ll buy him a peg for his nose and cook him something else.

Oh dairy free pescatarian plus low carb sounds so tricky... I consider giving up dairy all the time, but the substitutes are either gross or ££££.

Maybe I just accept we aren’t going to have that many of the same meals together.

You and DH do both sound to have quite restrictive diets: other than a couple of fish-based family meals a week I would just do DCs something, eat what you like and leave DH to sort his own food out!

shepherdess pie, with lentils instead of lamb mince
