To wonder why they ask for last period date in A&e

I've recently been to A&e when I was being triaged the doctor asked when my last period was. I would have thought if you thought you were pregnant you would inform them.

"Lesbians and nuns can be victims of rape and have even been known to have sex with men on occasion."

This is true, but are they forced to have a pregnancy test or treatment will be refused as we've heard happens to other women who say they cannot be pregnant.

"Why should it be applied to men? What would be the point in that? "

I never said it should be applied to men. I said it was discriminatory that women who have no chance of being pregnant have to suffer a wait for treatment when men do not. A woman who is a virgin or celibate has as much chance of being pregnant as a man.

I know lesbians who get fed up of this question every time.

I remember going to the Dr unwell and being asked about 5 times if I was sure I couldn't be pregnant. I ended up saying no, unless it was conceived with the help of God.

Fine if you follow up asking if they have sex with a man, but it does seem sometimes as if Drs can not believe that some women don't.

Gwen I don't think same episode I think one you're thinking of involves a female dr.

There are certain treatments that are contraindicated if a pregnancy exists not just in terms of potentially ending the pregnancy but also as in the patient being pregnant could make the treatment dangerous so yes withholding certain treatments unless a negative pregnancy test performed makes sense.

I am amazed that some women lie about not having had sex.
Because it is annoying when you tell a Dr you have not had penetrative sex with a man so could not be pregnant, and they do not believe you.
