To ask you what to do in London tomorrow..,

Was meant to meet a friend tomorrow but she has had to cancel. I'm still going to go as I LOVE London, but really want to make the most of my child free day!
I always end up going the same thing whenever I go (Camden), but maybe I could try something different. I quite like to sit and watch the world go by.

So, I'll park at the Westfield in Shepherds Bush and the world is my oyster (haha)!

What would you do?

Notting Hill, museums (the Christian Dior at V&A), leisurely lunch in Soho from Poke to bratwurst.
Check timeout as well.

Henrysmycat · 15/03/2019 22:03

If you’re a foodie Borough market. Boxpark too.
Or Hampstead. Check out the famous steps.

exculpatrix · 15/03/2019 22:05

Well, what do you like doing? If I have a free Saturday in London I'm probably spending it on some combination of cocktails, photography, and unusual food.

MissClareRemembers · 15/03/2019 22:06

I walk from Waterloo to Regent Street. Mooch around the shops there and Oxford Circus. I go to Liberty and go up the lovely, creaky staircase then down in the lift (pretending I’m Nancy Mitford or someone!).

Next head to Covent Garden and definitely go the Petersham Nursery shop. Find somewhere to eat.

I often wind up at St Martins-in-the-Field and see what concerts are on. They are cheap and very good.

Or see if you can get a ticket for a show.

Then I walk back to Waterloo via Charing Cross and buy a hot chocolate in Costa. I have a wee moment on the bridge and look at the skyline.

Enjoy it whatever you do!

StoneofDestiny · 15/03/2019 22:06

Wander round Seven Dials
Kings Road
Museums (if raining it will be a great option)
National Portrait Gallery
Parliament
Tate Gallery

South bank, have a pootle at the second hand book stalls and go for lunch in borough.

SuperHeroMum · 15/03/2019 22:08

You know, I've never been to borough market. How do I get there?

Boom45 · 15/03/2019 22:08

Well there's someone on my local Facebook selling group trying to flog 2 tickets to Les Miserable for tomorrow night. You'd have to get yourself to Sheffield to collect em and she wants cost price so it's an absolute bargain....

MoveOnTheCards · 15/03/2019 22:13

To get to Borough Market from Shepherds Bush i’d jump on the central line to St Paul’s then walk across the river to the south bank then along (head towards London Bridge). It’s a nice and easy walk. Just follow the signs.

exculpatrix · 15/03/2019 22:15

It's pretty much directly opposite London Bridge station. It's best to get there either early (9am) or late (after 3pm). In the middle of the day it's quite crowded with tourists getting lunch. Plus, if you go late you can get some bargains - I got some great pies there a while back marked down 60% for the end of the day.

MoveOnTheCards · 15/03/2019 22:15

I’m jealous of your child-free day on London tbh. Envy

SuperHeroMum · 15/03/2019 22:20

Thank you! Does anyone know the best way to pick up cheap theatre tickets last minute?

OP posts:
Joebloggswazere · 15/03/2019 22:22

I second the V&A, by far my favourite museum.

PhoenixMama · 15/03/2019 22:24

Download the TodayTix app then look for the shows with rush/lottery tickets. Tomorrow morning just before 10am go on the app and book cheap tix (if you don't get the ones you want right away keep checking - I got tickets to one hot show at 1056. Honestly you can get the best seats in the house for dinner of the hottest shows for £20-25!

gambaspilpil · 15/03/2019 22:28

There is a booth in Leicester square where you can get cheap tickets for the theatre, never quite understand how it works but there are always queries. Also if you register on centraltickets.co.uk/. You can get cheap tickets easily . As for borough market it’s across from London Bridge and you can then wander along the river and head to the Tate gallery which is quite cool and head up to the viewing area which is free....

Queenie8 · 15/03/2019 22:28

Cheap tickets - there's a booth in Leicester Sq that sells returns/last minute tickets. I've never bought tickets from there, so I don't know how cheap they are. Alternatively pick a show and pitch up at the theatre (I can recommend Motown, it's fantastic, and finishes at the end of the month)

tobeornottobe1 · 15/03/2019 22:28

@SuperHeroMum westfields car park is rather costly for the day! Maybe google another car park near to a tube station and use that instead.x

SuperHeroMum · 15/03/2019 22:30

I'll download the app now, thanks.
I've registered with the car park thing in the Westfield so it's only £9. I lived in Shepherds Bush for years, so like parking there... feels a bit like home Grin

Skyzalimit · 15/03/2019 22:31

Come on the anti-racism march! www.unison.org.uk/events/un-anti-racism-day/

tobeornottobe1 · 15/03/2019 22:32

@SuperHeroMum oh £9 is good for the day, excellent enjoy your time what ever you decide to do x

Stickmanslittleleaf · 15/03/2019 22:37

Do you know if you do want to go back to your old haunt you can get 2 hours free parking in Camden to peruse the (now a bit shitty) markets and the Kerb foody market? Just in case you wanted to pop in for old times' sake (I would!) Wink

SquirmOfEels · 15/03/2019 22:40

If you arrive nice and early you could Parkrun.

The nearest to Westfield is Wormwood Scrubs (220 bus from Westfield to Scrubs Lane)

sm40 · 15/03/2019 22:53

Get the Thames clipper to
Greenwich.

SuperHeroMum · 16/03/2019 06:05

I used to get the 220 every day to work! Oh the memories Grin
