What time do your 10 year old boys go to bed?

Mine is usually asleep by 8.30-9 which I think is too late but can’t get him to sleep any earlier even if I send him to bed earlier. He is just exhausted at the moment and doesn’t seem to be able to shake it off. What time do your 10 year olds go to bed?

Mine goes to bed at 9, asleep by 10. Hes always up around half 6, before his younger brother and sister. Weirdo that he is Grin
He's never been big on sleep, and has never needed much of it.
Me and my 5 year old on the other hand can sleep for hours and still not want to wake up!

Ds goes up at 8.30 and I read to him. Then he reads to himself until 9pm then it’s it’s lights out. He has to be up at 7am and he really struggles Sad

8:30, lights out at 9. No screens after tea time, which has a much bigger impact on his tiredness than amount of sleep.

8pm school nights, 9 weekends. But he has to get up at 6.30.

We also have to have all electrical stuff in full view in living room before he goes to bed or he's up all night. He couldn't possibly go to bed any later during the week, we had to adjust it because he struggled to get up otherwise. This works well.

So 10 hours should be enough then (if he’s sleeping from 9-7) but struggles to get up. I say he’s exhausted but to be fair he mainly looks exhausted. He has energy and plays football, walks to school, has swimming lessons, plays football and running games on the playground, Cubs etc. Just think he looks tired all the time. He often has since he was a baby. Maybe it’s just him?

Food I often think my youngest (6) looks tired: he is a brilliant sleeper and gets a good 10-11 hours every night. He has a lot of energy but often just looks a bit washed out iykwim

Does he take vitamin D? Lots of people in the UK are deficient. It might be worth a supplement.

I have a 12 year old. On a school night his light is off by 9.30pm. He probably doesn't go to sleep for quite a while after that, but he is knackered if his light goes off any later. He has to be woken in the morning (I give him a warning wake at 6.55am and a more forceful get up now wake 10 minutes later) He would probably sleep till 8am at least if I didn't wake him up.

I also have a 9 year old. His light is supposed to be switched off at 8.15 but its always more like 8.40 due to faffing. He gets up at 6.30am whatever.

11yo DS - asleep any time between 8.30 and 9.15, always up 6.30am and even earlier somethimes. It's the lighter mornings, though (even though he has blackout curtains) as there were mornings in winter I was having to wake him at 7.30am

My 9 year old goes to bed at 8.30 and lights out at 9.15.

Friday and Saturday we don’t have a bedtime routine for them.

10yo girl. Usually in bed with lights out for 9.30/10 although I try for a bit earlier!

My dd10 goes up at about 8pm & reads for as long as she likes, usually 9-9.30pm.

I stopped insisting on lights out etc as she struggles to sleep & it just made her anxious. The only rule is that she stays in bed & doesn't put her main light on.

Sometimes she stops reading & listens to an audio book.

830 and anywhere up to about ten on Friday.

There was a similar thread a few weeks ago and I relaxed their bedtime a bit. It’s helped actually, they share a room so don’t mess about so much anymore!

Light out for my 9.5 year old at 8pm during the week, 8.30 or maybe 9 at weekend.

Sometimes he does struggle to fall asleep right away, but it's usually ok as long as he doesn't get a notion to put the light back on and read. 🙄

8.30-9pm on a school night, later at weekends. Up at 7, bounces out of bed, was always an early riser and never needed more than 10 hours even as a baby. 7am is a recent thing, used to be 6-6.30 for years.
