Awful food poisoning or stomach bug - feel dire

I was up four times last night with sickness and diarrhea coming out both ends simultaneously. Thank heavens our bathroom floor is tiled, that’s all I’ll say. Today I’ve been in bed all day and have just about managed to drink a glass of water and eat half a slice of dry toast. I feel very weak and for some reason my pelvis area aches - it feels a bit like period pain, but I’m not due my next one until the end of the month.

The sickness and diarrhea have stopped now thankfully, so that’s something. But is there anything I can do to speed up recovery?

I did eat some pate that had been open about five days in the fridge yesterday, but was still within its BB date. I’m thinking that might be the cause, but DP ate it too and is totally fine?

Dd (8) recently had a horrible sickness bug - started in the middle of the night and she constantly vomited for about 11 hours. After that she felt awful and weirdly had what she described as ‘sore hips’ that lasted a couple of days. She’s normally really robust and stoic so it must’ve been bad as she was wiped out. Nobody else caught it thankfully despite her redecorating the hallway...

There is loads of this going about where we live. I had it 10 days ago, then DH then DS. I felt dreadful and very achey for several days after the hideous stomach symptoms stopped.

I had something similar last September - Dr was convinced it was salmonella but tests all came back negative so must have been a virus

4 days of both ends followed by 8 days of diarrhoea on its own. I've never felt so rough, took me about a month afterwards to recover properly.

Lost 1.5 stone though so every cloud
