Facebook group for small village and it seems it's 80% used for moaning!

The latest being about someone in the local chemist, actually naming the assistant and saying she's rude etc. These are not teenagers, it's grown adults. Im sure that must be classed as bullying?

It's moan, moan, man...

Dogs barking, cars driving to fast, fireworks.

It's always so aggressive, it's never whoever lives behind 1 Acacia Avenue could you stop the dog barking early morning, it's disturbing me.

It's "to the inconsiderate person behind 1 Acacia, I'm sick of you. Sick of your dog. If I knew who you were I'd come round.

Anyway, that's my moaning done.

It's actually a lovely area with nice people.

Do others find these "community" Facebook pages negative?

We often get people naming and shaming serial shaggers who never called.

It’s bizarre but very amusing Grin

Ours always has stories of "is this cat anyones, i think its lost"....err maybe it's just out for a walk?

bowchicawowwow · 11/03/2019 20:15

I love ours. It's great entertainment. This week we have:

Sheep loose in the lane

Moaning about litter from someone who suggests a community litter pick but wants someone else to organise it.

A complaint about kids throwing stones from the top of the pump track onto the neighbouring farmers barn roof - accompanied with threats of violence from said farmer.

Complaint about a rotten stile

Some quite bad amateur photography to show that spring is on its way

littlebillie · 11/03/2019 21:50

I've stopped following ours as there are the same people arguing and get very Persian quickly

littlebillie · 11/03/2019 21:50

Personal*

whippersnapperwrapper · 11/03/2019 21:54

I'm banned from mine, admins daughter asked my son out, he said no so the mother banned me ! Grin

They're awful. YANBU!

BackforGood · 11/03/2019 22:18

Ours is like Silene's on P1.
Very useful

  • accidents and / or traffic and road works posted as live news
  • People asking where there's a local stay and Play or a room for hire for a function or a Slimmers World Group or whatever
  • people asking for recommendations for the best takeaway or whatever

(though yes, there is some moaning about the bins - but to be fair, that is understandable with the bin strikes / weeks of non-collections.

recrudescence · 11/03/2019 22:26

I enjoy mine and all its curtain twitching. Sometimes there are some really juicy arguments but sadly I have been forbidden from joining in by my husband. Occasionally, there is some genuinely useful or interesting info - especially about the history of my area. One guy puts up loads of old pics. You are not allowed to sell anything on the page but lots of people give stuff away which is nice.

baileys6904 · 11/03/2019 22:27

As someone already posted, these are dependant based on what members post, so post good stuff.
We highlight small charity or voluntary groups hat otherwise wouldn't get the awareness, local news, local events, volunteering opportunities, local concerns with local councillors posting, stuff like that. We try and make it as positive as possible
