That's really lovely writing.
If you're writing joined up on a flip chart, make sure you write larger than you think you need to. Its hard go read joined up writing in thick marker unless it's really large.

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 09/03/2019 16:47

Before looking at the picture, I was prepared to say "retrain as a doctor" as illegible handwriting is a prerequisite for them. However, your handwriting is absolutely fine.

PlatypusPie · 09/03/2019 16:48

I moved primary schools and had to move from a very Italic style ( a fashion for a while) to a very rounded style. My handwriting never really recovered and is way worse than the OPs ( who is clear and legible) . It can look ok but falls to pieces when I speed up. Learning shorthand was great for taking notes but added to the normal handwriting mess as I added shortcuts and ‘blends’ into it.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/03/2019 16:50

Your handwriting is fine - but anything on a flipchart or blackboard etc is better PRINTED.

Much more legible and easy to read from the back of the room.

goldengummybear · 09/03/2019 16:51

You have good handwriting. Better than some teachers judging from my kids' books.

Raspberry10 · 09/03/2019 16:54

Ha! You should see mine, I’ve barely written anything in 20 years everything is typed. Yours is quite lovely Flowers

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 09/03/2019 16:55

It's lovely, OP. Mine is scarcely legible (even by me). Not helped by scarcely writing a word longhand in ten years or so!

FurrySlipperBoots · 09/03/2019 16:56

Looks fine to me! My handwriting is absolutely appalling. I don't even do joined up. It bothers me but it's not for lack of practice, it's just how it's meant to be!

FrostedSnowdrops · 09/03/2019 16:57

I think both of you have lovely handwriting! I thought we'd have more than two samples by now. When I'm in a real hurry I can't always read my own writing. I think I am a lazy writer, I go too fast and doing close my letters or join them properly.

You see, I quite like Paisho’s writing - it looks grown up and sophisticated!

I think it's fine. Way better than my cursive. I do think if you're writing on a flip chart you should print, though.

Bouncebacker · 09/03/2019 16:58

Frosted Snowdrop - also very grown up!

Printed - capitals? Or just not joined up?

Seriously? No offense to Paisho, but no. Yours is better. Paisho's is better than mine, though.

BoomBoomsCousin · 09/03/2019 17:01

If you’re going to be writing on a flip chart for an audience you might want to consider printing or all caps as that’s generally easier to read, especially at a distance, then joined up.

But I would say your handwriting is on the neater side of average, nowadays.

BoomBoomsCousin · 09/03/2019 17:02

Cross post!

Printed capitals is generally easier to read on things like flip charts.

Itssosunny · 09/03/2019 17:03

Bad handwriting is when it's difficult to read and yours is very easy to readWink

steff13 · 09/03/2019 17:04

Just printed.

Aragog · 09/03/2019 17:07

On a whiteboard I always use printed handwriting, not joined. No capitals though - a large chunk of text in capitals is more difficult to read for many people. Remember to write large so that people sat a distance away can read it.

I only use cursive joined when teaching handwriting - and I have to really think about it to make sure it is neat and legible!

nauseous5000 · 09/03/2019 17:09

^^ fishing for compliments

HollowTalk · 09/03/2019 17:11

OP, why don't you use a capital I when referring to yourself?

Nanna50 · 09/03/2019 17:12

I am frequently complimented on my handwriting and I take no effort over it. However when writing on a flip chart it all goes to shit 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wouldn’t worry about it.

MaybeitsMaybelline · 09/03/2019 17:14

I also think your writing is lovely. Mine has deteriorated massively with keyboards, it seems that despite doing an office job I rarely write anything mire than a shopping list! Be proud Smile

RomanyQueen1 · 09/03/2019 17:14

Your writing is lovely, but as a pp said it is better to print rather than join up.
Much easier for those who struggle to read from a distance.
One tip I wish I'd been told.
If you can get a bit of practice in the room itself and see how far back you can read and what size to write your words.
Good luck
