"The embryonic kicking of feminism" is the wankiest thing I've ever heard anyone say

I don’t dislike Megan (don’t know enough about her to dislike her), but this sentence made me a bit sick in my mouth.

I am so bored of the 10-15 “news” articles about her every single day. I couldn’t care less what shoes she’s wearing or how much her dress cost. I also don’t need live updates every time she touches her bump.

I know damn well there are much more important things going on in the world to report on.

I didn't really like that comment at all, it made me feel queasy.

I like Megan, I feel sorry for her more than anything, she is in a god awful position.

Personally if I were her I would be toning it down, reigning in the showy baby showers, go for a much lower profile and enjoy her pregnancy. She doesn't need to keep doing performing circus tricks, like the banana writing etc.
Much better to keep to formality until she has found her feet. I feel she has moved too quickly, with bad advice, and would be well advised to take a step back from the media circus and really work out what she wants to do with her role, some breathing space is needed so she makes good decisions.

I’m not doubting that she has done good things and has always nepbeen a feminist.... but... let’s face it, the only reason she’s on these high profile panels now is because of the man she’s married. Before that, she was only well known in certain circles. She’s living the Stepford Wife dream.

It was probably said a bit tongue in cheek, as she is 8 months pregnant.
Maybe “foetal kicking” might be more accurate.

I genuinely manage to live my life without reading anything about her one way or another, except on Mumsnet.

What is a shame is that one comment has overshadowed everything else she said. I would have liked to have heard what else she had to say about being a woman, but instead that silly joke was everywhere. And it wasn't very funny, and may have played well to the academics in the audience but that's the thing, Meghan is essentially an academic.

But you have to talk to the lowest common denominator at these things cos you're talking to a global audience.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Sophie does a truly excellent speech on sexual violence and nobody pays any attention.

Where are you getting your news? The only place I ever see her mentioned is on here.

ThunderStorms · 09/03/2019 11:46

There was a clip shown on the evening news yesterday.
