My six year old daughter has teenage skin :(

It's been gradually getting worse over the last few weeks, and seems to have flared up today whilst at school...worse than it's ever been! I'm super paranoid as I had awful skin as a young teenager. Not red angry acne as such but just small bumps under all of my skin on my face. Her's seems like this today. It some lights in looks worse. I can't believe my daughter would get this at 6 years old?!? I took her to the pharmacy and they weren't concerned... And i'm not worried in terms of her health... But it just makes me want to cry and the thought of her going through what I did, and being so self conscious from such a young age :(

Could it be that she has an allergy? I would push it harder with the doctors. Get a second opinion. Maybe get a referral to a specialist. X

Could be an allergy, or rosacea. You do need to get it checked in case she has precocious puberty, but the former are far more likely.

I really hope it might be an allergy of some sort - the pharmacy did say that could be the cause, and so recommended I bought some antihistamine to try. I think my insecurities are still so raw that I panic a little!

My ds' eczema looks different on his cheeks and we have special cream to put on (sorry cannot remember what it is tho)

My DD had spots from the age of 7/8, mainly on her forehead. Nothing that could be done, except get her into good habits of keeping her face clean, which she does religiously.

Unfortunately, she now at the age of 14 still has spots, mainly on the forehead and chin, but she isn't stressed by it as it's all she's ever known.

She looks after her skin and understands it's just hormonal, but she hasn't yet had the confidence to start using make up like her friends.

Can you post a photo of it without revealing her whole face to the public, or link us to a pic on the net which looks the same?

Did yours begin at her age?

My eldest is 11 but started getting the odd angry spot or patch of them when she was about seven. She's had proper teenage BO since summer 2017, so when she was turning ten? Did I maths that right?

I would see the GP, explain your history of it and that because of your history and DC's age that you would like her checked by a dermotologist (though you'll probably have to wait to see the paediatrician first).

Is it keratosis pilliaris (sp?).

I had acne from about that age and started periods at 8.. it was horrendous. Poor girl

I just googled keratosis pillaris and this picture does look very very similar...

One of my dds has mild kp on her cheeks and upper arms. She uses Ameliorate cream. If she uses it once a day ( not more, or it can irritate) then it does make a difference.

Take her to a dermatologist as soon as possible.

4 people I know from a young ages have had similar. Looked like a raised goosebump type thing. Sometimes. Little whiteheads.
All 4 have a dairy issue which too much dairy causes flare up.

It really looks like a type of flat wart to me. Gps won't do anything about them as they should disappear in two years. If you see a private Dermatologist they might prescribe Retin A.
