Am I a CF meal deal thief?

Calling morality police...
So, my boss has a set lunch. A sandwich, a chocolate bar, a drink. Exactly the same every day. I tend to go on lunch before him so offer to pick up his lunch. The dilemma is this - his sandwich isn’t in the meal deal. In fact it’s a cheap £1 sandwich which for some reason the gods of -Tesco- haven’t included. But the rest of his lunch is. So I take advantage of this and pick up my yummy £2.80 sandwich and that goes through with the other items as part of the deal.
So his lunch costs £3.10 which he gives me. Including my sandwich- which makes it qualify for the deal- it’s £4.10. So I essentially pay £1 for my £2.80 ‘naice’ Sandwich.
After many months of doing this it’s just occurred to me this may be morally dubious. He’s paying what he would pay if he went and got his own lunch. I’m buying the sandwich I would buy anyway. But he’s paying full price and I’m only paying £1. Am I a CF?? Confused

My goodness yes you need locking up

FFSFFSFFS · 08/03/2019 21:02

Is part of your job description getting his lunch?

If not HE is being a CF.

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2019 21:02

How do you sleep at night op

Theyellowsquare · 08/03/2019 21:02

I had to book hotels at work (for other people). They made me book them on my own credit card and claim the money back if the employee couldn't pay in cash at the hotel (and often delayed paying me back). I booked the hotels using quidco and made about £1000 in all over a few years. They didn't lose out at all. Absolutely no guilt about that.

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2019 21:03

That's a good point ffs. Sometimes my staff get my lunch. Sometimes I get theirs. Depends whose going shopping! Unless I had a personal shopper I wouldn't expect someone to buy my lunch.

Pinkginxx · 08/03/2019 21:03

Just to clarify he would never tel me to get lunch. It is just because I’m a glutton that can’t make it past 12 so am the first on the team to go.

Who's

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2019 21:04

Thanks for the clarification. I am swinging back and forth on thos one :o

pastabest · 08/03/2019 21:09

The way I see it you are getting a shoe leather discount.

In his position I wouldn't care, I like a particular sandwich and a particular drink and would buy those regardless of the meal deal. I wouldn't care if the colleague that was picking it up for me was getting a minor discount on their sandwich as a result and would see it as fair play for not having to go myself.

macaroniandpizza · 08/03/2019 21:22

I cant see any wrong doing on your part, call it a delivery fee if it makes you feel better lol

stuckinagut · 08/03/2019 21:22

Well, yes you are being a bit cheeky by having the more expensive sandwich at his expense, but then you are actually fetching it each day, so he would probably count that as a delivery fee!! Why doesn't he himself have a sandwich in the meal deal? Or even some variety?!

It's taken you this long to realize so you must have squared it with your conscience somewhere :)

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2019 21:28

But it's not at his expense. He pays the same either wsy

UnexpectedButExpected · 08/03/2019 21:30

call it a delivery fee

This!!!

arethereanyleftatall · 08/03/2019 21:33

Wait a minute. If his sandwich is only £1, are you sure it's cheaper for him to get the deal rather than just separately? Mayr that's why the £1 sandwich isn't in the deal?

arethereanyleftatall · 08/03/2019 21:34

*maybe

JC4PMPLZ · 08/03/2019 21:35

But if this is like most places and he paid for the items separately would probably cost him more, as they inflate the prices for single items. So aren't you doing him a favour.

kateandme · 08/03/2019 21:36

I hate maths like this.because I still cant work it out.and now I hate myself.

Madwithjealousy · 08/03/2019 21:37

If he’d be paying the same regardless of your sandwich then I can’t see the issue ???

stuckinagut · 08/03/2019 21:41

Yes it is his expense because without the other items in the meal deal which op wouldn't buy, the ops lunch would cost £2.80, so op has the lunch of their choice at bosses expense! Her moral dilemma is about what she's NOT paying, not what he IS paying, i.e. not splitting the discount.

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2019 21:42

But he'd pay the same either way

SeaToSki · 08/03/2019 21:44

IF I was him, i would say you were being extra efficient and think it was very sensible. There is no point in anyone paying anymore than they have to as long as it is within the rules, and it is.

Veterinari · 08/03/2019 21:45

Yes it is his expense because without the other items in the meal deal which op wouldn't buy, the ops lunch would cost £2.80, so op has the lunch of their choice at bosses expense!
How on earth can it be ‘at his expense’ When he doesn't Pay any more? Confused there is no additional expense for him

Op don’t worry about it - if he was bothered, he’d just get his own lunch - you haven’t chained him to the desk for a meal deal have you?

arethereanyleftatall · 08/03/2019 21:48

I'm so bored tonight, I've just checked on Tesco website.

Are you doubly sure op his meal wouldn't be cheaper separate? The drinks range from 60p to £1.20, snacks similar....

HollowTalk · 08/03/2019 21:50

So if he went on his own it would cost the same as when you go? How would he ever find out?! Just practise your innocent look and a whistle.

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2019 21:51
