DP and Fleas!!!

So I have name changed in case he sees this but please note this is mostly light hearted...

DS (2y/o) recently came out with various red spots all over him. No bother, thought it was chicken pox! Until I see this little black bug on him - he had just been smothering the cat. This put me into a fit of anxiety that these spots were flea bites! So DP assures me I am being ridiculous there is no sign of fleas any where else, it's probably just a little bug from the garden.

I've spent the last 3 days convinced there are fleas in this house but DP has started getting annoyed at me and clearly showing he is frustrated with me.

Well tonight, in comes Archie (the cat), scratching his ears off of his head, while sitting on my bed. I take one look at him with a flea comb and he has tons of the little buggers!!! I did frontline him at the start of the week and have RIP flea spray for the house but please, does anyone have any tips to get rid of these asap?!

AIBU to be a in a grump with dp for not taking me seriously and then leaving me to deal with the cat tonight!!

If you read this far, thanks for letting me vent, haha. My anxiety is through the roof right now!

Deathraystare 😂😂 that made me giggle. He keeps his undies in the same drawer so maybe I will, haha....

I called the vets. They think the live fleas are ones from the house that have jumped on him but should die off from the broadline. They said to treat the house thoroughly as you all have said. Don't have a steam cleaner but I think I might take a trip to the shop for one later on today!!

Shock longtimelurkerhelen Good lord £34 at the vet for Indorex? That’s outrageous. But I too have bought overpriced stuff (special dental cat biscuits in my case) in desperation at the vet before, only to discover them much cheaper elsewhere. They get you at a moment of weakness.

And to think I always harrumph to myself at £8 a can on Amazon which seems expensive to me Hmm

@GreenOliveOrBlackOlive

I know at the time I was a bit Hmm at the price but was desperate to get rid of the fleas so looked it up at home.

When I took it back to the vets, they looked very surprised that I wanted a refund and said they pay just a little less than the £34 (which I found hard to believe) so I said they should change their supplier then!!! Clearly the vets are cf's. I could buy 4 with delivery online for the price they charged.

I really hate buying stuff from Amazon (tax dodgers of the highest order) but sometimes they are a godsend.

Our area's fleas went immune to Frontline in 2017, we've been successfully clean with Stronghold drops since then. Three cats, two of whom are outdoorsy, the third is very allergic to fleas so we know long before we have an actual infestation!

The best two items for fleas I have ever bought are

a 9k drum washing machine with a steam cycle

and a

Polti steam cleaner.

If its not been said before, empty your hoover into a plastic bag, tie tightly and put outside every single time.

Dust, hoover, steam clean every day then spray as needed.
