So I’ve been in my current role for about ten years now. It’s very full on and isn’t hugely family friendly (I have two kids under five but pretty much need to pretend I don’t!) My supervisor changed recently and it’s only getting worse.
So I feel like it’s time to move on. I’ve been keeping an eye out for jobs and I’m updating my cv etc.
Last night a job was advertised. In house. Big global company, decent salary, flexitime, a bit different to what I’m doing now but within my remit. I think I’m going to apply.
DH has reservations (please don’t mistake this for him being unsupportive. He’s very supportive but we do need my salary as well as his). What if it’s not the right move, brexit makes things a bit unpredictable, etc. If I get made redundant from my current role my payout would be pretty decent. If I move, I won’t be entitled to anything for two years, job stability is a bit unknown etc
Is this the wrong time to be considering a move like this? It’s not so much that my role (solicitor) will be directly affected by brexit but recession is always a risk.
