To use my lemon kitchen spray on my pancakes

I honestly don't think it's as bad as it sounds!

My husband, our two children and I were having pancakes tonight, and I realised I had forgotten to get one of those squeezy lemons, or an actual lemon so that we could have traditional lemon and sugar ones.

Well no problem I thought, I have a spray bottle of lemon juice under the sink I use for cleaning and it's just filled with Jif lemon juice anyway. So I took it out and sprayed my pancake, and offered it to them (obviously telling them it was lemon juice and not bleach).

They all looked at me like I had offered them poison and had Nutella instead.

Was it that weird to do? It tasted fine Confused

Maybe I'll write in to Take A Break. I might win the top prize if I pose with my lemon juice bottle! Grin

I see where you are coming from but I dont think I would put anything on my food that was stored under the sink.

This has been the first mm thread in ages that has made me laugh, not crying or snorting tea obvs but a definite audible titter, and I thank you for that.

lalaloopyhead You're very welcome Grin

Yes but you will have to have me now printed on the photo.

I think I might put my lemon juice in a spray bottle next time, seems like the perfect way to apply it to a pancake.

jasjas1973 · 05/03/2019 20:38

Well, i would have poured it into a cup (out of sight) and not said a word, other than its in a cup because the JiF lemon split.

Any fruit juice is going to have a shelf life, depends how long its been under the sink.

Give the ungrateful sods the white vinegar next year.

origamiunicorn · 05/03/2019 23:56

*JIF not CIF grin I still wouldn't, like a PP said, shouldn't be kept in the fridge?"

You see those of us who are old can easily get confused with this, I still call the cleaning cream jif.*

Oh yeah so it was. Well I'm a geek and all I can think of is JPEG Interchange Format. BlushBlush

Who hasn’t melted a vanilla scented candle down when they’ve run out of custard?

Blablaa · 06/03/2019 00:02

You haven't lived until you've tried Cillit Bang all purpose pancakes yum!!!

JaneJeffer · 06/03/2019 01:01

Now it makes sense why Unilever changed the name of Jif cleaner to Cif !

NunoGoncalves · 06/03/2019 01:12

All we had in was some Lemon Original Source shower gel so we just used that.

I love that

steff13 · 06/03/2019 01:56

Why aren't you having maple syrup on your pancakes?

TellMeItsNotTrue · 06/03/2019 01:59

🤷 there is artificial lemon flavouring in lemon stuff anyway, yet real lemon juice in cleaning products - so maybe we should all be reaching under the sink to find pancake toppings Wink Grin

I wouldn’t put a foodstuff in a non-BPA free plastic container, and expect to eat it. Doubly so if it was an acidic food.

Lemons with their little stems left on last for ages in the fruit bowl. I like to store my lemon juice in lemon skins, rather than in dodgy plastic or with preservatives, etc.

Citrus juice ages badly outside the fruit. It smells off very quickly to me after air hits it. That’s why ‘freshly squeezed’ is a thing, no?
