To think the dog isn’t vicious?

Last night the dog went to bite DHs face.

The dog was laying across DH and was falling asleep. Room very calm, TV on low, me playing on the iPad. All of a sudden DH shouted randomly that he’d had two poo’s earlier. This being after complaining of an uncomfortable stomach ache. The dog jumped awake and instinctively went to grab his face (as he’d just randomly shouted!).

DH then starts going on about how dog is quite unpredictable and it would never be accepted if he was a big breed. I argued that if you randomly shout near any dogs face whilst it’s dozing off they would probably react the same!! AIBU to think this?

I am another who would ensure the dog slept in it's own comfortable bed on the floor if it startles from sleep like that.

Ah yes, I was wondering when the OP was going to pop up again having abandoned her last thread!

I would definitely abandon your plans for a second dog until you've got a handle on the one you have or stop living such odd chaotic argumentative life with your DH.

BTW if the dog had actually wanted to bite him, it would have. It sounds like he scared the shit out of it and its reaction isn't that far off what mine would be if you started screaming right next to me while I was sleeping.

Dogs don’t nearly bite... unless it’s superman or the flash...

What thread did I abandon?!

All of a sudden DH shouted randomly that he’d had two poo’s earlier - Can't get past this tbh

Me neither. Why do people put apostrophes in plurals?

Miffymeow · 05/03/2019 16:01

DH can't be that scared of the dog if it's sleeping on him. If it wanted to bite him, it'd have bitten him.

On the other hand, if I was lying across someone's lap falling asleep and they randomly shouted in my face that they'd had two poos today, I'd slap them Grin Halo

OP, don't worry about posting. If posters don't like it then that's their problem. They don't have to read and they definitely don't have to post.
There are no rules on only being allowed to post about really important things.

I don't think it matters what you label the dog. You just need to be aware that he might bite if it suddenly gets startled. To me that would mean I would be careful with it around kids and other people.

HarrySnotter · 05/03/2019 16:36

My dog would never react like that. Mind you, neither would my DH.
