To be worried about 4mo DS

DS is 4mo. He's been extra cranky today. Done 4x poos as opposed to his usual 1 and they've all been bright green as opposed to his normal mustardy colour (sorry). He's also slept most of the day which he doesn't usually do.

AIBU to be a bit concerned? Or does this sound normal?

It’s always a worry when they have out of sync days. Only you know your baby but when I had ‘off’ days like this with my DS where he wasn’t himself Id run through a mental checklist in my head which was:

• temp?
• feeding normally?
• wet nappies?
• what’s he like in himself?
• any unusual rashes?

And then if any one of those sparked a worry id keep a close eye and maybe call 111. Poos can change daily though, so I didn’t use to get overly worried about that as my DS vowel movements never really kept a pattern. Could he be teething?

Aaaawww I had this with my son (he's 22 now!). I was told at the time that he just had a bit of an upset tummy and it happened from time to time but not with any of my three girls.
You know your baby and if you think something is wrong there's no harm in calling the doctor for some advice. They're normally really good with new mums because they do tend to worry-obviously!

Did he just have vaccinations?

Could be teething.

Is he feeding a lot? My DS started getting green poo around that age, I remember it as it was getting close to weaning time (4 months at that time) and he was guzzling breast milk for England. Green poo is a sign of over feeding on milk apparently. I can assure you it never did him any harm.

Having said that I’m not a medical practitioner, if you have any worries you should see one.

That reminds me that I started taking probiotics pills when DS was little and his poo went bright green, like grass. I asked the doctor, who suggested stopping probiotics to see and within 2 days his poo went back to normal. Then we went away and I didn't restart them. I liked how I felt with those probiotics, I should find them again now we know to just expect grass poo.

Or maybe it was prebiotics?
