Life before and after social media

The first social media platform I remember was Bebo and MSN. I was just after the MySpace craze. Then along came Facebook, but right when it started and no one really knew what it was. Then twitter. Then Instagram. We won't talk about google+... Wink

But fast foward to now and I'm struggling to picture life without it. I really want to come off SM for my mental health, but have anxiety over how I would stay in touch. Isn't that stupid?!

Have any of you come off for good and still remained 'in the loop'. I'm a SAHM in a rural area. I do use Whatsapp but don't talk to many.

How did you find life post social media?

Me and my DP deactivated our FB accounts nearly 4 years ago and it was the best thing we have ever done. Our mental health has improved. We find ourselves doing more sociable things rather than sat on the sofa scrolling through pointless feeds and we find we are not being dragged in arguments and other people's shit. We don't even miss it or give it a second thought tbh even with our friends and family constantly on it. We keep in touch with friends and family through text and phone calls.

I am the only parent not to be on facebook and the only one expecting them to make a special effort for me.

That may not always be the case.

I really don't think it's appropriate or acceptable

I find it completely unbelievable that a school will only communicate with parents via Facebook.
