And therefore knew what a chemical was?
Just had someone moaning on a gardening group that F1 seeds are made "with chemicals in a lab".
Well in that you'd be a bit stuffed without chemicals, yes, they are, as you'd have no body and seeds wouldn't exist.

That's right, ADropofReality, everything is chemicals, but some chemicals are more evil than others. Hmm

Some of the chemicals used in organic farming are toxic.

Does that mean no chemicals at all?

Or just Monsanto's?

Naturally occurring chemicals like H2O and whatever cow dung is made of are not included in "chemicals".

two of the oldest pesticides are Pyrethrum and Rotenone. Both are naturally occurring chemicals, and both can be fatal. Sulphur, Arsenic, Mercury and Lead are elements that have historically been used as pesticides, all can be dangerous to health. One of the reasons why people have synthesised pesticides is to reduce their impact on the health of untargeted species, such as humans.

Please don't try eating bicarb or baking powder!

I already have and lived to tell the tale (accidentally during eating of poorly mixed cake batter).

we need to use fewer ‘harmful, artificial chemicals’ in gardening and farming.

What about harmful chemicals that are produced in nature? Can we use them?

I wasn't even talking about the use of pesticides etc. I don't mention them in the OP.
I was talking about the use of the word "chemical".
"Chemical" does not mean "harmful artificial chemical" as you have just demonstrated with your screenshot.
