Posting here for traffic as I posted in Women's Health and didn't get any responses.

I had the copper coil put in 8 months ago. For the first month I had some spotting but no spotting since. My periods have been longer and heavier but more or less the same each month. Until this month, when I had one day of spotting, then nothing for 2 days, then 3 days of spotting, a period for 10 days - 3 of which were very heavy - and since then (over a week ago) I've had spotting and cramping on and off. Since yesterday the cramping has been constant but the spotting hasn't. I checked the strings of the coil last night and felt a bump on my cervix. I've also felt very fatigued for the past 3 weeks - more than the usual tiredness from having 2 children.

I'm going to try to get an appointment with the GP this morning and I know that's the only way I can get actual answers, but I'm really worried about what's going on and would like to hear if anyone has had something similar and it's all been fine.

This is more of a rant than anything else, but I'm feeling really unwell with this now. I feel completely drained and dizzy. If I'm sitting down it's manageable but if I'm up and doing things, after a little while I'm getting horrendous cramps which are comparable to labour contractions. I have to sit down until it goes off. As a single mum it's not possible for me to sit down and rest. I asked my XH if he could take the DCs tonight but he said he can't so I'm having to power through and it's bloody hard. There's more spotting again and I felt my cervix again and can definitely feel a bump. It's tiny but it's definitely there. I'm guessing it's just a nabothian cyst as someone mentioned above. I just want this pain to go.

Honestly OP, I went from someone who literally never gets period pain to a sofa ridden hot water bottle clutching invalid. As soon as it was out I was back to normal. If it’s that bad, get it removed.

Also probably best to stop prodding at your cervix as this could be irritating it.

Yes. I'm going to leave it alone now. I just wanted to know what I'd felt yesterday.

I'm on cycle day 19 of a 26 day cycle so I wouldn't usually be having any pain at this point.

Just to update.

The pain got much worse on Tuesday and I was feeling quite lightheaded and drained so I phoned 111 who booked me an appointment at the UCC. Urine showed high white blood cells so they prescribed antibiotics and pain killers.

The pain has eased slightly now - it's fine if I'm sitting but standing or walking for a while brings on the cramps.

I got my results back from the swabs my GP took on Monday and they were normal.

So I'm none the wiser about what's going on but the spotting seems to have stopped at least.

I went back to the GP today as the bleeding is heavier, but still on and off and my abdomen is swollen. He was going to phone me as one of the swabs came back that I have Strep B (when I checked the other day only one result was back, which I didn't realise). He's prescribed antibiotics and we'll see what's happening once I've finished the course. He also said that it could have been a very early miscarriage before the hcg was even detectable.
