to ask where you would go on holiday not as expensive as a cruise?

If you were a single 50 year old female who fancied a break but couldn't afford a cruise, where would you go?

Thank you! I suppose I just need to take the plunge and book it now!

A friend gave me a great tip a few years ago. She said try something new and if you don't like it try something else. It's worked for me for a few things.

Depends on what kind of places you like and amount of time - you could get a Europe rail pass and stay in hostels/cheap hotels for a month or a 5* for a week. Personally I would go for a city break, but dont discount a last minute cruise, they sell off final cabins at incredible prices (ndn paid £250 each all inclusive recently)
