Why does it cost say £8.95 for DC but £13.95 for an adult??? I cant go in the jungle gym or on the electric tractors, Im not even allowed on the bounce hopper 😂 so why do they charge so much for adults!!! I understand when its something the whole family get to enjoy like the zoo or sea life etc bit when you literally watch your child on everything there is to do its a bit of a joke to pay so much for the privilege 😂

It's to limit the number of adults hanging around filling up the space. If you only have 20 seats outside the soft play frame, you don't want loads of them taken up with little jimmy's parents, grandparents, great grandparents and uncle fred as they all watch precious little jimmy play.

It depends, though - if they enforce the (totally reasonable) no bringing in your own food and drinks policy, that's a lot of people who might buy coffee and cake from your cafe.

I think some of it is to compensate for offers they have eg child gets in free etc or Tesco rewards. We went to longleat at Xmas and it should have cost a whopping £180, but cost a quarter of that with rewards. No way would we have afforded that, as we easily spent £100 once there on lunch and food/drinks.

Because days out are so expensive though, I’m super critical of them and will search out reviews on google/social media etc before parting with large amounts of cash. There’s nothing worse than spending huge amounts on one day out which turns out to be rubbish.

This is why I refuse to take the DCs to somewhere big like Alton Towers where I have to pay full whack to loiter in CBeebies Land within earshot of The Smiler etc that I can't use that day. Plus the DCs being tempted by rides that they are too small for for a few years.

I do go for the likes of Gullivers which are more reasonably priced, the DCs can do pretty much everything and I can do most of it with them. Much better value to entertainment ratio.

I absolutely agree. Annoying when adults are charged for kiddie fairground rides too, when we're effectively on there to keep the child safe. It's not like we fucking want to be birling round on a fake reindeer!

The part that bothers me is the idea that small families should subsidize big. Every kid uses as much resource as the next.

But it’s a business decision, not an ethical one. I do tend to avoid businesses that skew it heavily though. I don’t imagine I am the only one with a small family who does so, but they must believe they make more money with unfair pricing even if some of us go elsewhere.
