I went to put some fuel in yesterday and when I went to pay the man said "could you not have counted that at the car". Then when I passed him the money and said I think that's right. He said it should be you counted it 4 times.

OP posts:
Absofuckinglutely · 24/02/2019 09:21

Perhaps the op came in with bags of coppers and counted them all out. I'm sure she didn't though. Either way, this post must be up for non issue of the week.

DifferentWorldNow · 24/02/2019 10:23

Yes but it is an issue if the way he spoke upset the OP, and made her question herself. Sometimes these things are the last steal that breaks the camel's back, rather than just one isolated incident.

By the very fact you feel the need to verbally doubt yourself to him (I think that's the right amount) you don't would like the most confident of all people, so these incidences will likely worry you more. Plus we don't know why your confidence was bashed in the first place and I suspect that's more what's the issue here.

The response of some vulchures hard nosed people on AIBU really aren't going to serve any purpose but to help kick a man while he's down.

Who really wants to be that person? Or on the receiving end, for that matter.

Excuse the unchecked autocorrects!

motherheroic · 24/02/2019 10:52

He's not wrong. The price is right in front of you, just get the correct change (if you have it) before you head inside.

Holidayshopping · 24/02/2019 10:57

Were you holding a queue of people up?

DifferentWorldNow · 24/02/2019 12:37

Whichever way you look at it, someone has to wait, don't they? Either you have a queue behind you at the pump as you count in the car, or you have a queue behind you at the till. Either way some impatient fool is likely to get their knickers in a twist. What happened to exercising a little patience? Maybe the op hadn't even thought about how to pay until she was there, purse in hand, I mean who of us can mentally work out exactly what change is sitting in our purses right now? I know I can't! What has the world come to, I mean really.

CloserIAm2Fine · 24/02/2019 12:43

Totally depends on how long you were taking

5 seconds to check you were handing over the right notes is very different from laboriously counting out bags of change four times over.

So YABU for posting half a story and expecting anyone to be able to answer
