Can a blood test be wrong?

Last period on 25th dec, got a load of positive tests around the end of jan then last couple of days of the month I had a light bleed for around 3 days, went to GP who confirmed pregnancy but said the bleeding could be miscarriage and to wait it out. Booked in for a private scan on the 11th of feb and they couldn’t see anything so gave me an internal - still nothing.
So they then sent me to eapu to check the pregnancy wasn’t ectopic and took bloods to check hormone levels - the blood test came back a negative and we were told we’d had an early miscarriage as levels were only at 3.5.
So I accepted this, but the last week or so my boobs are so sore that it actually hurts walking down the stairs, I’m being sick daily, And I just feel the exact same as I did when pregnant with my toddler.
I’ve has 3 other miscarriages and never had this after - the symptoms are stronger than they were before?
So tonight I’ve took a test (20mlu) which has come up with a faint positive, so took another one and got another faint positive.
The midwife told me I should get negatives as hormones had dropped so low and said not to retest for at least two weeks after the bleeding stopped.
But the symptoms are stupidly strong.
I’m trying to figure out if this is a loss or if it was too early on for hormones to be detected in my blood as I do sometimes have irregular periods (pcos).
Or I’ve read a lot about being more fertile straight after a m/c and we did have unprotected sex after the bleeding had stopped as we knew spotting was normal and this wasn’t a major bleed.
I’m not sure what to think and I can’t trust my own body right now. Has anything had anything similar happen? It takes so long to get a GP appointment where I am and I don’t wanna hassle them. Sorry for the long rant

Well it sounds probable that you are pregnant, but you will need to either test again and see if the line is getting stronger, or go back to the GP and get checked again at the EPU.

The blood tests are accurate for testing the levels in your blood at the time of the test.

It could be that it was too soon after implantation for your body to start producing the hormone. If you've been having unprotected sex, it could be a new pregnancy. Unfortunately there would be no way of knowing without repeat blood tests and a scan.

Good luck, I hope you get some good news

Sounds like a new pregnancy. Lines should get stronger now.
