To put DD back into nappies?

DD has been using the toilet since Christmas and has done really well with it. She's even been dry at night for about a month.

She had a bit of D&V last week but still managed to get to the toilet.

I think she's cutting her last lot of back teeth now. She's had 3-4 runny poos each day for about 3 days and she's soiled herself each time. Her bum is a bit sore and she's got a bit upset about it.

I put her into a nappy tonight for bed but now I'm regretting it and worried I'm going to confuse her. I don't know what to do though... if she's having so many accidents is it fair to keep her in pants?

I think it's fine to use them at night just so she doesn't soil her bed. Just make sure she knows that it isn't her fault and she's doing really well.

She just turned two this month. She's very close in age to her brother and copied him (she's got quite a strong will). I went through a whole "she's too young" debate with myself but she did so well for a good 6 weeks - probably had about 10 accidents since she went into pants and none for the last 3 weeks.

I do reassure her that it's all ok.

She sat in a poo this afternoon so I did say "you must tell me when you poo... don't sit in it, it'll make you sore" but otherwise I've been telling her it's fine and just to try to get to the toilet next time.

That’s really young, I tried with Ds then but no luck. That’s great and I don’t understand your concern about it confusing her. Tell her you don’t want her to sleep in poo so when’s she better you will stop again.

She is! That's why I'm a bit lost and unsure about it all.

In all honesty, thinking about it now, I don't know if I've put that nappy on for her benefit or mine. If she soils her bed I can clean it easily enough. Have I just caused confusion in her young brain... will it make her want to give up using the toilet!

I know people disapprove but my two did ok in a pull up. Bless her she is only little but if she is keen to carry on, might that be the solution for a short while whilst her tummy sorts itself out?

I would have even dreamed of trying her brother in pants at that age! She saw her brother potty train a few months ago and has been insisting on wearing pants since. I put it off but she proved me wrong... a habit I fear will be lifelong!!

Perfectly fine if she is ill. I put my dc in pull ups when he had d&v at 2.5, it didn't confuse him at all. I would use sanpro myself as an adult if I was ill and worried I wouldn't make it to the loo.

Ok, so a nappy or pull up at night should be ok but keep her in pants during the day?

It’s been a long time since she was in nappies - since Christmas? As she’s only 2, that’s actually quite a big proportion of her life! So i wouldn’t worry about confusing her, I’d imagine nappies are a distant memory and pants are her norm now. So I wouldn’t worry about using a nappy while she’s asleep and unwell! Do it!

I would put her back into nappies until she's well.

Having accidents every day could dent her confidence. Treat it as part of the sickness/teething. Tell her it's temporary.

When the poohs go back to normal put her back in pants.

When DD was 5 she got a terrible tummy bug. She was very distressed at soiling herself and being afraid to fart and everything. Because we had no nappies or pullups i lined her pants with some of my pads. It gave her enough peace of mind to potter along and dare to leave the toilet. And when it did get dirty, we took it off binned it ,cleaned her up and swapped for a new one. She was considerably less distressed.

HELP!!

She's had a terrible couple of days. She poo'ed her pants about 4 times yesterday and has already done two poos in her pants today.

I'm feeling so frustrated by it! I obviously hid my emotions but I felt a bit cross earlier. She did one poo and I sat her on the toilet and then about 20 minutes later she came out of her room saying "done a poo".

I don't know what to do? I offered her a pull up and she cried and said she wanted her pants on.

I think it is best to go with what she wants. As she is ill you won’t be going to toddler groups etc and will just be at home.

Just bin the poo knicker to make cleaning easier.

Maybe cut back on dairy for the next week as temporary lactose intolerance can becaused and S and D.

She's dairy free already as she's CMPA.

I've put a panty liner in her knickers for now.

My almost 4 year old is in nappies at night and it doesn't seem to confuse her. She's been daytime toilet trained since October half term but has nappies at night as she still poos in her sleep.

You little one should be fine in a nappy at night.

I can't work out why she's pooing so much:
-bug
-became compacted and seeping
-teething

We started her on the milk ladder almost 3 weeks ago but stopped when she got a cold. She started with the sickness and diarrhoea after that and now it's just diarrhoea so I don't think it's dairy.

I've got a stool sample to drop to the GP.

It's been over a week of diarrhoea!!

Poor little thing had a poo on the toilet earlier but winced and said it was sore. She seems happy with her panty liners in.

My ds 8months is the same had at lot of diarrhoea and sickness he ended up spending the night in hospital with a feeding tube hooked to a drip to give him fluids as he lost a lot of weight and was very dehydrated
to start with it was just diarrhoea and I thought he was teething but it just got worse and he then couldn't keep anything down then HV came to weigh him and realised he lost a lot of weight
hospital told us it was gastroenteritis and I've read it can last upto 10 days so just trying to keep him as hydrated as possible it's been 8 days since diarrhoea started and it seams to be easing up maybe your dd has the same

She seems happy with her panty liners in.

If it works ,it works. Just keep an eye out that they're just giving her reassurance in case of an accident and that she won't take it as a green light to poo in her pants all the time.
