Accessing medical records

Hi. I also have a question about medical records. I've been recently very sick and wanting to hide my condition for now. I've been using medicaid. I have a few friends who are doctors. I am not their patient and they are just random acquaintances I've met throughout the years. My question is, if they wanted to, do they have a system where they could see what health insurance I have by just my name and date of birth and phone number? Or would they need ssn? Also, what if I coincidentally have a doctor in the same network as them? Would they then be able to view what insurance I have or would they need ssn for that as well? Thanks

I'm assuming because of SSN you're American? I'm not sure how it works there but here they aren't allowed to look up anything not relevant to them, like your records.

Aren't allowed to? Or physically unable to?

Op I'm not American, and I've never lived in the usa,

But I googled and found this which may help you with your questions

Also I dont want to pry but why would.it matter if your friends knew you had a health condition?...if I had a health condition and drs as friends I'd be using their knowledge and ideas to try and get the best care from my own drs Grin

It's honestly stuff I'd rather keep personal. I don't like people gossiping.

You talk of medical records but I get the impression that you’re also very concerned about the type of insurance you have being made public. Why? There should be systems in place to protect patients privacy from random staff looking up their records but your best bet would be talking to a heath professional or administrator.

What ‘sneaky gremlins* said. You can get disciplined for looking up records of patients that you aren’t directly caring for. But it is you shouldn’t, not can’t. In the UK

Why would your friends, doctors or otherwise, be in anyway interested in your medical records or insurance status.
