It was after 8:30pm and you were 34 weeks pregnant. Asking for a friend Wink

Yes.

I assume the person wants to because they are usually closer to the store, and it will be dark.

I’ve sometime parked in them, entirely childfree, late at night as they are, bar the disabled spots, the closest to the store, and I think it unlikely they’ll be many parents with children shopping at 9pm, or even later when it was a 24 hr store.

3boysandabump · 22/02/2019 21:25

No I wouldn't but if wouldn't bother me if somebody else did

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 22/02/2019 21:25

Of course.

LordVoldetort · 22/02/2019 21:25

Yep! I was too large (pregnant) to get back in my car one time because someone had parked so close to me so I started parking in them

ToffeePennie · 22/02/2019 21:25

Yes this is absolutely fine! I take umbrage to people using them for perfectly mobile children over the age of 8, or old people who can’t be bothered to walk that far to the doors. Frankly for me it’s about being able to get both children and myself out safely.

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/02/2019 21:26

I wouldn't but I wouldn't be bothered if I saw you do it. From experience, someone with less need will be parked up there already annoying me.

Nothininmenoggin · 22/02/2019 21:27

Yes I would.

clairemcnam · 22/02/2019 21:31

I parked in one at 9pm when I was alone and got glared at by a man. It was by the small co-op and the p and c spaces were better lit, so felt safer.

RhymingRabbit · 22/02/2019 21:31

Of course. You need the extra space. In Italy all family spaces include pregnant women.

clairemcnam · 22/02/2019 21:35

A person with a condition which makes them larger and possibly in need of a walking aid would surely be eligible for a disabled badge.
No that is not the case. Needing to use a walking aid would not be enough to get you a disabled badge where I live.

RiverTam · 22/02/2019 21:38

Toffee you’d rather an elderly person parked further away and had to make their way across a car park? Why is someone with a baby or child more vulnerable or need be closer to the store than someone in, say, their 80s?

Guineapiglet345 · 22/02/2019 21:38

I think that’s fine if there’s no end spaces available. I’m sure the supermarkets say you can use them if you’re heavily pregnant.

clairemcnam · 22/02/2019 21:40

Toffee is just being goady. No one can be that thick.

IHateUncleJamie · 22/02/2019 21:42

Yes I would, especially after 8.30 pm. If anyone begrudges you that then they’re tight arses. You have a child with you, albeit inside you.

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 22/02/2019 21:47

Yes I would.

Though I noticed at our local shopping centre the spaces have been re-painted and now say parents with prams only. I found that frustrating as I don’t always use a pram and instead put my kids in a double trolley if I have a lot of shopping to do.

E20mom · 22/02/2019 21:48

No

EyUpOurKid · 22/02/2019 21:48

Yes, especially after I got trapped in the passenger side after some complete bellend parked virtually on the door and then walked off going "Ha, well its not my problem, I didn't get her like that!" when I shouted I was stuck to my husband.

EyUpOurKid · 22/02/2019 21:50

Should clarify, I was bout 35 weeks and fucking massive. My bump entered a room ten seconds before me.

StoneofDestiny · 22/02/2019 21:51

It's about time parent and baby spaces were scrapped and all parking spaces were made wider. If a big 4x4 is parked either side of me I can't get in, out or see to reverse out safely - and I'm a slender soul in a regular sized car. Parking spaces no longer recognise the monster sized cars so many people seem to want to drive.......before we even begin to recognise people are expanding too.

HettieBettie · 22/02/2019 21:52

I did all the time because people park so bloody close!! You can’t squeeze in with a bump!

StoneofDestiny · 22/02/2019 21:52

But I wouldn't notice who was using the parent and child spaces as I don't police them!

BrizzleMint · 22/02/2019 21:53

Yes, absolutely. You are a mother with a baby.

Horsemenoftheaclopalypse · 22/02/2019 21:55

No but I use them all the time because I think they are bollocks and am not pregnant and don’t have kids Grin

OopsIdidittentimes · 22/02/2019 21:56

yep.

BabyNameDilemma · 22/02/2019 21:58

Thanks for the responses. I thought more people would be against it. Those that say no, even at night time when very few children are about?
