WWYD nuisance photographer

A random man wandered onto site at my work last week and started filming/photographing. When a colleague informed him it was private land he dispute this, the police were called in but ultimately nothing happened as the police were unsure of where the boundary to public land and our site begins.

My colleague asked him 'not to be a prick' during the encounter which enraged the man who then posted the video on YouTube. The video has gone viral in our area and my colleague is embarrassed and worried.

The mans YouTube channel is full of videos of him turning up in random places, acting shady, the police being called in and then ultimately nothing happening (except police time being wasted). That was until last week when he tried to film a local school and local prison and was finally arrested.

Now he's claiming he will keep returning to our work and it's got me nervous as I walk to work, often in the early hours. He seems unhinged in his video rants. WWYD? I don't have anyone to walk me to work and I fear my colleagues would laugh if I asked them to give me a lift when I live only a 2 minute walk away. Also I have DC in a nearby school which has got me paranoid for their safety.

My god, some right arsehole replies on this thread!

He sounds like a bored nut job, but probably not dangerous. I think ignoring him completely is probably the best way to deal with it to start.

wigglypiggly · 22/02/2019 16:24

He sounds like attention seeker, the school may well have CCTV and if hes already been cautioned about filming there then the school need to deal with that and call the police if it happens again. Has work got CCTV, l would ignore him, stop looking st his fb page, don't leave any comment about him and if staff feel threatened by him contact the police and works security. Police have bodycam too, what can he film at work.

sarah the law now covers stalking under the harassment laws. Before that there wasn't tons of legislation available to deal with that kind of thing but I'd have thought that your local force could have arrested him for harassment and hopefully charge to appear before court if you had evidence of him filming you?

wigglypiggly · 22/02/2019 16:30

Maybe you and your colleague can report him to fb if hes filming and posting without your consent, as pp says look at Sarah's Law, the police will help you with this.

A friend of mine takes photos 24/7. He's a photography nut. He puts some of them online. Because it's not illegal

A man took a photo of me & another woman (I didn't know her) on the bus. I knocked his camera to the floor and stepped on it. I don't give a flying fuck whether it's legal for him to do that.

Then again I'm not small, or easily intimidated. Bet if I was, it would have gone differently.

Always some arsehole thinking they can do what they like and not get called out on it. Then along comes 'Im in a bad mood/hate life so let me hop on internet and antagonise someone who's in a worrying situation'.

Take no notice of nonsense talk about his rights OP. Who cares. If you see him again step away and call 999.

I'm vaguely wondering if this is in London..? I can't imagine him lasting long around here, acting like that. Someone would've punched his lights out by now - off camera...
