So basically I've been experiencing regular contractions since about 1am, had bloody show but no waters breaking or anything. The contractions are only about 40 mins to an hour apart and whilst they do overcome me and take my breath away it only lasts for about a minute so I'm going to my eyelash infill appointment! I phoned triage & they advised only to come in if waters break for they get to 5 mins apart. Am I abit mad? Or is my calmness acceptableHalo

I feel a bit cheated. 1 minute long contractions every three minutes from the second I'd finished the world's biggest poo till they let me get in the pool at 7cm dilated about 8 hours later, when mercifully they slowed down a bit. Back to back baby.

Idonotlikeyoudonaldtrump · 22/02/2019 10:01

I went into town and walked round the shops with my first.

Took dc1 to buy new shoes then to the playground with my second.

You could be days having mild contractions, it will really drag if you stay home.

cocodash · 22/02/2019 10:02

@IJustLostTheGame sorry but i LOL'd at the on all fours in the cake aisle! xx

amilosingitor · 22/02/2019 10:09

I was induced but me and DP went on a few walks around the hospital (clinging to the walls a lot of the time for me!) and played Harry Potter trivial pursuit between screams. Neighbouring mothers must have thought me mad to be honest.

anitagreen · 22/02/2019 11:05

@IJustLostTheGame best birth story ever sorry Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/02/2019 11:09

DC2 - went for a walk with DH and DS (well waddle rather than walk)
Came home , make some pasta . Felt the waters trickle.........

Not wanting to scare the bejusus out of DH, called "Can you bring me some clean pants trousers and a pad..."

He wafts through with a pant liner !

Finished cooking and ate the pasta

Mandraki · 22/02/2019 11:11

Ate some toast, watched peep show, went back to bed (it was about 4am) and slept until my waters broke with a gush at 6.45 and proper contractions started thick and fast. Good luck!

Mandraki · 22/02/2019 11:11

And actually I was in slow labour the day before but didn't realise at the time so I went and got my eyebrows waxed haha!

Isitweekendyet · 22/02/2019 11:12

I decluttered our wardrobe, I'd been meaning to do it for weeks and weeks and just got the itch to do it.

Little bugger couldn't wait until our wardrobe was finished though and I came home to a still cluttered bedroom!

Lookingforadvice123 · 22/02/2019 11:15

Hope it's going ok OP!

Is it your first baby? If so you're definitely safe to go about your day until they get closer together. A friend had early labour on and off last week since Tuesday night, she still hadn't dilated by Friday morning but it finally ramped up and baby was born Saturday morning (her first).

I had regular contractions for well over 1.5 days before I got to about 2-3cms. I think it helped that I just went about my day. It kept them regular.

Good luck!

Mammyloveswine · 22/02/2019 11:25

I was finishing off some work I needed to hand over 🙈.

Then I watched "21 kids and counting" and tried to get some rest.

Had a cuppa around 4am and managed another snooze

Things ramped up around 6 and then had to call my dad to come and collect my 23 month old.

Went up.to hospital.around 8.30 and then my little one was born in the pool within 2 hours.

Was all in all a good experience!

Lana1234 · 22/02/2019 11:28

Rested, watched Netflix and ate pasta in bed

HRI290417 · 22/02/2019 11:57

So I was in early labour for around 24 hours. In this time, I went for a wax to tidy myself up a bit before a midwife got hold of me (I was dreading it but it wasn't too bad!), went for a walk round Aldi and Iceland and then had my lunch in the garden centre. Then I went to my friends house, we went to the Chinese buffet for some tea. After that, we went back to her house and the contractions got a bit worse so I had a bath there. Then I went home shortly after, went to bed (didn't actually sleep as the contractions were getting bad so was on all fours most of the time). Then had another bath at about 5am then went to the hospital about 3 hours later and was kept in!

ShiftyLookingBadger · 22/02/2019 12:05

Cleaned my whole house has we had our buyer's evaluator coming the next day! Confused

ShiftyLookingBadger · 22/02/2019 12:06

Oh and ordered a Domino's for dinner then vomited it all up just before I delivered DS. Blush

HeyCarrieAnneWhatsYourGame · 22/02/2019 12:07

I cleaned the house with DD1..... took the opportunity to go to bed with DD2!

AhoyDelBoy · 22/02/2019 12:10

My labour must have just started with a bang. There was no laying about doing xyz and certainly no appointments. It was just excruciating contractions every five minutes or so out of nowhere. This goes on from 9pm till 7am the next morning when we get to the hospital. I’m only 4cms and then labour just stops. Should have stayed at home 🤔

MrsXx4 · 22/02/2019 12:15

I walked into town and did some Christmas shopping! My contractions were 5 mins apart but I was managing them fine at home and didn’t quite believe I was in labour, I thought it was braxton hicks because it was my first baby, I was low risk but he was early!

I went to pay for something in Debenhams and could hardly breathe! Thought I’d better get myself home. I was advised no need to go to hospital until they were much closer and until I felt I needed pain relief so got into bed, ordered a take away and watched Christmas films until about 2am when we thought it was time to head to hospital!

TaMereAPoilDevantPrisu · 22/02/2019 12:19

Woke up with the first contraction at one in the morning, was in the hospital with baby in my arms by three. My uterus doesn't mess around.

Soov567 · 22/02/2019 12:19

My contractions started 2pm on Thursday and hospital wouldn’t take me till 6pm Saturday when they were 3 mins apart and lasting 1 minute - get your eyelashes done, you’ve probably got loads of time

spiderlight · 22/02/2019 12:57

Oooh, exciting - good luck!

I was woken up at 3.36am by a fairly mild contraction, and they came every three minutes straight away (might have been having more spaced out ones in my sleep though). I stayed in bed for a while and then woke DH, whose response was to go back to sleep because 'One of us should be rested'. I was having a home birth, so the first thing I did once I got up was to hoover. I just sort of pottered around at home, really - it was lovely.

Niffler25 · 22/02/2019 14:00

I walked my dog, went for a shower and wrapped the rest of my Christmas presents! Then I want for a nap Grin!

CheeseFan · 22/02/2019 14:13

I still have regrets that when my waters broke (my first sign of labour) at 4:30am, I didn't just go back to sleep. I was too excited/anxious so my partner and I stayed up chatting and then got up and watched TV/hung around the house/had a McDonalds until my contractions got a lot worse early in the afternoon.

Daughter wasn't born until midnight and I can't believe I didn't make the most of those precious few hours sleep I could have had before the madness began.

CheeseFan · 22/02/2019 14:14

This was 16 months ago by the way. Just goes to show how much I think about sleep these days!

Celebelly · 22/02/2019 14:17

I never got to have early labour Sad. My waters broke suddenly and within 20 mins I was having v painful contractions every two mins lasting 40-50 secs so it was off to the hospital. I had planned to watch a nice film and bounce on my ball in early labour, and maybe go for a walk with the dog, but never got any of that! Make sure you've got your bag packed, etc.
