This little rash is on both DD5’s ankles. Exactly the same both sides. It was itchy last night but isn’t today. Came up yesterday afternoon. Not spreading. No other rash elsewhere.

What on earth is it? Any ideas? She’s got no allergys we know of.

Maddie you've reminded me that the school emailed to say that hand foot and mouth is going round. Wonder if it's that?! DOn't know what that looks like!

Arrggh.

A rash is a known side effect of the vaccine so most likely.

Laiste · 21/02/2019 14:10

imsorryiasked i feel like your username Grin

They did mention the small chance of a mild reaction like a rash. But i expected it to manifest sooner, and i would have expected it to be a rash on the chest or back.

I'd take her to see a pharmacist just to get it checked over. They might be able to help.

Laiste · 21/02/2019 14:14

I will pop into the chemist and show him.

HF and M rash images look much more blistery.

She had her vax a week ago yesterday.

hoodathunkit i don't know if it appeared suddenly - she did suddenly say her ankles were itchy ... iyswim? But they may have been rashy for a while and it wasn't as visible until she started scratching. (she's not scratching now)

The carpet beetles - eeek. Don't want it to be that!

Hand foot and mouth looks more spotty. Doesn’t look like flea bites to me either.

Could be eczema?

InfiniteCurve · 21/02/2019 20:59

If I had that on my ankle I'd be assuming it was eczema, that's what I looks like to me ( as a lifelong eczema sufferer)!

GrandmaSharksDentures · 21/02/2019 21:03

Pompholyx eczema - type of eczema limited to hands & feet, commonly on the sides of the feet. Usually starts with itchy blisters

Rosered341 · 21/02/2019 21:06

My first thought was eczema. It can start ‘spotty’ then go dry, red & sore.

nailslikeknives · 21/02/2019 21:41

Did you get new socks in Tesco/Primark yesterday?

I read some clothes are sprayed with chemicals (formaldehyde?) when they're between factory and shop and can cause nasty reactions.

Ukelou · 21/02/2019 23:27

I get a red itchy rash when my ankles get hot. This time of year i am wearing furry boot slippers but its actually quite mild so i get hot ankles which then go red and itch. I doubt its fleas they would still be really really itchy .

Laiste · 22/02/2019 08:06

Well, this morning it's looking less red and she's not mentioning it. (she's dropped a toy on her big toe this morning and caught the cuticle (!) and is much more interested in that and the Kitty plaster which i've just put on it). I put a little pure coconut oil on the rash last night and that dry look has gone today.

I didn't buy socks in Primark, but - the hot ankle thing could be it. She was little boots like Uggs and she did say her feet were hot. I'd forgotten about that! It is too warm for them.

Thank you for all the insight into eczema. It must be rotten to have to deal with it Flowers I'll keep an eye on it (and put the boots away) and see what happens. Hopefully it's a sweat rash, or the pox jab, or an allergy to Primark :) but from what posters have said about eczema it could well be that too.
