It's a parking one!

We love in quite a narrow road with parking boxes, white lines drawn on to park with 2 wheels on curb. Parking has always been an issue but we manage to normally park at least in our road.

Over the past few weeks a commercial truck, open back has been parking directly outside our house and neighbours house taking up 2 white box spaces and as you have to park 2 wheels on pavement makes it a tight squeeze to get in and out of gate, ok for us but next door has a pushchair.

The neighbour who owns the van has a double drive with a double dropped curb where usually there are 2 other cars parked on the drive.

AIBU to think the driver could be more considerate and park across his drive or in another street? Our road is the cross in a H shape and on one of the other streets there are no houses and lots of spaces, he could easily park there and be in his house in less than 30 seconds.

DH wants to talk to him and ask him not to park there but I think that if you are that inconsiderate you're not going to open to a chat. I was going to contact his employer - the name and details are all over the side of the van and ask them to have a word with him.

It is a public road so therefore anyone can park there I know this but it's just causing an obstruction and taking up 2 spaces!

Would I be unreasonable to email his company??

Aaarghhh I hate parking issues!!

God dont email his company if you ever want to have pleasant neighbourly relations! Talking to his boss before a pleasent chat is a massive overreaction

ChesterGreySideboard · 19/02/2019 19:11

Try to talk to him first. Give him a chance.
If he is a cock then email.

itbemay1 · 19/02/2019 19:12

@DontTouchTheMoustache I hate conflict! I'll send DH over!

Sooo I'm going to need a diagram...

itbemay1 · 19/02/2019 19:13

@ChesterGreySideboard good plan. I just don't know why he can't see how inconsiderate it is! Maybe I just expect too much..

@AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen Grin I'll see what I can do!

YWBU to contact his employer. Hes not parking illegally or actually doing anything wrong except being a little inconsiderate. Also you risk antagonising him by taking it OTT.

You or your DH should have a chat with him and ask him to park on the other side. Maybe he hasn't realised it is blocking "your" space etc. This is all you can do.

starzig · 19/02/2019 19:13

It's frustrating yes, but he is entitled to park there
We have loads of work vans on our road. Not only do they take loads of space but whit van men never seem to work. Even if I come home early, I can't get a space.
I just pray for the day that we get parking permits and vans get charged 20k a year (if only)

Deep down I know IABVU it's just so frustrating!! I need to chill out, but I do think I'll get DH to have a chat if we see him.

#Excuse drawing!!!#

Which drawing?

InMyBloodstainedSundaysBest · 19/02/2019 19:50

Seriously don't contact his employer. It has nothing to do with them unless he's parking illegally. They won't care, you'll just give everyone in the office a laugh. That's all that happens when people email about our company vans.. lots of eye rolling about yet another busybody.

itbemay1 · 19/02/2019 19:53

@InMyBloodstainedSundaysBest I'm glad you said that because that did think that would be the case!! I was imagining them having a right laugh at the parking police!

DingDongDenny · 19/02/2019 19:55

Is he parking within the lines of the box? If he is then I'm afraid that's fair enough

whatsleep · 19/02/2019 20:11

I’m only here for the diagram just wanted to offer positive vibes Grin

ThreeAnkleBiters · 19/02/2019 20:12

There are lots of people who think if some thing's technically legal it doesn't matter if it's massively inconvenient to everyone else.

itbemay1 · 19/02/2019 21:05

@ThreeAnkleBiters exactly this..
