To hate the school holidays because of age gap?

I have a toddler, an 11 year old and a 12 year old. Toddler gets up at the crack of dawn meaning by the time the big two are up he’s ready for a sleep.

We can’t go anywhere really because of this and the age gap. He’s also ill at the moment meaning I’m finding him harder work than usual so I’m just utterly grumpy Blush

Suggestions gratefully received.

I have this problem. Mine are 9 months, 7 and 12. I'm struggling to think of anything we can do together. To make matters worse I don't really have any friends to spend time with and my parents are busy.
Fortunately my DH is off Thursday and Friday.

National trust type places?
Museums?
Woods?

They always work for us.

Alternatively throw the older two out to the park/riding bikes?

Can't the toddler nap in the car on the way to somewhere? Or in the buggy?

Snowmaggedon · 18/02/2019 11:11

Feeling your pain op. smaller age gap here but enough too mean we can't do things together... play board games Etc

Can toddler sleep in a buggy while you're out? Don't let the toddler dictate how you spend the day.

Will the little one sleep in a pushchair? Do you have a Bag Of Crap you can dole out one bit at a time to amuse him while you're all doing something else that's over his head? E.g. toy cars, jointed figures, puzzles, transformers, snacks, crayons, teddies etc etc. Peppa on Netflix on your phone when you've exhausted all other options.

10 year gap here and we all enjoy a pub lunch/dinner, going round town alternating clothes shops with toy shops, charity shops, the Lego shop, the library etc. Cafe for cake when tired, preceded by wh Smiths to get everyone a magazine or something to entertain in the cafe so I can drink my tea in peace.

Swimming might be good, Pokemon Go helps older ones tolerate more walking and hanging around in playgrounds, haven't tried geocaching but it sounds promising.

Indoor picnic? I involve chocolate to make big people activities appealing to the little one and little people activities appeal to the big one Grin

Pushchair nap? It would still be an issue even with a small gap.

Jinxed2 · 18/02/2019 13:34

He won’t sleep anywhere but bed. He just keeps going otherwise but in a very grumpy fashion Grin

Thanks for the suggestions
