To think there’s never any need to scream at staff

I was in Starbucks today.

Woman at the next table grabbed a barista by the arm and shouted at her - her coffee tasted funny apparently. The barista apologised and went to make her a new one.

The re-made drink was not to her liking. She stood up and leaned over the counter and screamed at the staff! Apparently it was burned tasting.

Why on earth would you get so upset over a drink? The staff were very calm and remade her drink twice. She uttered the immortal words “I’m never coming to Starbucks again.” Pretty sure she’ll be back! Not sure why she expected the baristas to care if she didn’t return.

@NicoAndTheNiners

IME they wouldn't dare, because it'd be all over the internet in seconds, and not the true version either. And it's extremely rare to find someone who reads the responses to reviews, and even if they do, it's usually chalked up to the owner/manager trying to cover their arse.
Obviously one bad review in a sea of good ones may make you think twice about the reviewer but I've know every person from one table leave an inaccurate review, because they weren't happy. That was one table of 5 people, but the 5 poor reviews were on the first page. Most people who have a positive experience leave one review between them.

Guess that's true but it's sad that staff have to put up with such shit due to fear of negative reviews.

Totally agree, that's why they do it - there's no repercussions like being shamed by being asked to leave, in fact they're likely to get free stuff. And they can be as unreasonable as they like and utter the words "Trip Advisor" and I can guarantee 99% of managers won't do a thing.
Same old story, profit more important than people.

Years ago when I still worked in a library (where it was Saturday afternoons entertainment to go and insult the staff) one man was eye wateringly rude to me. I looked at him, smiled very sweetly and said how much I had enjoyed their party the previous week. He realised I was the daughter of one of his friends, retreat one red faced man, didn’t get an apology.

Re the Saturday afternoons entertainment. Get drunk at lunchtime, return books one day overdue and throw a strop over a 5p fine. I stood nearly 7 years of it before asking someone where they were when the manners were handed out. The rest of the queue laughed. I left soon after!
