Mumsnet's rules specifically state that:
- Free speech by definition applies to all; for a debate to take place, opposing views which follow our Talk guidelines need to be tolerated, even if you disagree with them.
However, this no longer appears to be the case. Any post relating to the transgender debate which members of the feminism forums do not agree with is immediately classed as 'goady', members throw their toys out of the pram and complain and there is a high likelihood of the post being taken down by moderators.
There are numerous threads discussing alleged hypocrisy on the part of transgender individuals and yet the moment one is started highlighting something similar from the so-called transphobic side it is removed. This is clear double standards on the part of moderators. There is clear public interest in asking questions about a prominent GC campaigner who claims to support homosexuals but then says they support protestors who are clearly protesting against them.
If Mumsnet does not believe in free speech then maybe it should amend it's rules because at the moment it is allowing members to dictate which threads stand and which are removed.
