To have stood on the dog?

The dog fell asleep beside the sofa I was lounging on. I forgot he was there and suddenly went to stand up, slammed my heel into the dogs side. He jumped up and walked off (he doesn’t cry because he’s hard) but I immediately felt guilty and ran over to him, squashed his face, pulled his ears, reminded him of his stubby nose, kissed his head and apologised. DH was winding me up about it and I laughed it off. Little did I realise he then went and put a sad looking picture of the dog on Facebook with the caption “wife just stamped on the dogs stomach. I don’t know why she would do that”. It’s had tons of “crying faces” and comments asking why etc. I’m a bit pissed off. He’s tagged me in it so all my friends will have seen it too. I can take a laugh but ...

I kicked my dog full in the face yesterday. She was waiting for me to kick the ball but just as I did she lost patience and launched herself at it, meeting my foot with some force. I was mortified, cuddled her, checked her over to make sure she wasn’t actually injured and was super careful for the rest of the walk. So was she! She kept dropping the ball at my feet and then backing right away. 😂

Elephantina · 15/02/2019 16:10

Purse I think I've kicked my dog UP the arse and simultaneously DOWN the stairs. Why the hell does she scamper down ahead of me and stop right where my foot is in mid-air and committed to going!?

Meh, swings and roundabouts - I'm always shmooshing her face and apologising and she always pinning back her ears and lapping at the air and apologising so we grovel to one another a lot. I'm glad she understands my apologies.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 15/02/2019 16:15

He’s a prick. I’d be seriously pissed off about that - why a person would think it’s funny...

greenpop21 · 15/02/2019 16:19

Your dog sounds lovely but your DH is a fool. Im always stepping on my dog because she gets herself just where my foot is about to be.

JasperKarat · 15/02/2019 16:20

I would take a selfie of you and the dog add it to the comments on the post, caption it besties and comment 'we both know it was an accident, DH being a drama queen again 🙄' .

greenpop21 · 15/02/2019 16:20

Step on him instead next time.

DarlingNikita · 15/02/2019 16:20

Post on the FB message 'no I did NOT stamp on the dog, I caught him with my foot and felt awful about it. The dog is fine.'

Then block your DH!

I agree with this. What a tittish thing to do.

Your dog who doesn't cry because he's hard sounds awesome Grin

Nousernameforme · 15/02/2019 16:21

So now all his fb friends think that you have deliberately hurt your dog. I wouldn't be surprised if someone did report you to the rspca.

greenpop21 · 15/02/2019 16:21

Sounds like your DH is craving FB attention.

WinterfellWench · 15/02/2019 16:30

I agree that someone may report it to the RSPCA. Tell him to delete the bloody post!

And yeah, I agree with greenpop - it sounds like he is craving attention.

What a twat.

BrendasUmbrella · 15/02/2019 16:36

Ask him how funny he will find it when an RSPCA Inspector is knocking at your door because someone screenshot the post and reported you.

If it's a very slow news day you may even end up on the Daily Mail with the kneejerk brigade threatening to kill you. So get him to sort it out!

Dahlietta · 15/02/2019 16:42

I always feel especially bad when I accidentally step on the dog because he tries so hard to be lovely in response - I think he thinks I stepped on him on purpose and he must make it up to me for whatever bad thing he must have done. Heartbreaking!
But yes, your DH sounds like he was an arse.

IDoN0tCare · 15/02/2019 16:47

OMG! That’s so true. You know they’re always posting animal cruelty stories and this would be perfect for them. Also, op, you’ve just posted it on here and The daily fail are always lifting threads. They will be looking for that Facebook post!

StressedToTheMaxx · 15/02/2019 16:58

I would put up a post with a picture of your happy dog, the true explanation of what happened and tagging your husband.

Pursefirst · 15/02/2019 17:07

@Elephantina YES! My furry idiot does this too!
