To think the military monitors and interferes with emails

H is away right now, the only open method of comms is his work email. Obviously he uses it to give us a rundown of his day, etc, so personal stuff as well. He's away for a while.
I'd found that he'd looked at Ashley Madison a while back, and still have no answers from him as to why, beyond 'i was curious', his answers are also contradictory in that he first said he was on there ten mins, then a few, but didn't have a username. When I pointed out the only thing he could have clicked on from the landing page was 'see my matches', and that requires you to put in username and password to go forward, he said he didn't remember. So some bullshit going on, which I called him on in an email. Then another. And another. No answer.

He says they don't screen for MH issues, and the worse words in there are fucking, asshole, and whore, so wouldn't screen that. (I know, I sound awful. ) He's reported some emails going missing, they say there's no explanation. Big coincidence though, given the content.

Anyone experienced similar, or have any idea what's going on?

Sounds more likely your DH is ignoring you because he doesn’t want to answer your questions about arranging affairs....

NeverTwerkNaked · 13/02/2019 20:43

Does he work for the military?

Also, surely the more likely explanation is that he just hasn’t bothered replying to your emails or has chosen not to reply to them?

Namestheyareachangin · 13/02/2019 20:43

I think given the context it's more likely your husband is bullshitting you than that the military can be arsed to interfere with your obscene emails to your (blatantly cheating) husband.

NeverTwerkNaked · 13/02/2019 20:44

also- all employers can screen work account emails! Surely you knew that

DiscoMoo · 13/02/2019 20:45

Those three words would hit the profanity filter in our corporate IT so the email would be quarantined and not reach the recipient. However he’s probably choosing to ignore the ones that have got through.

Rollercoaster1920 · 13/02/2019 20:48

Most large companies scan e-mails for stuff, from virus scanning to profanity. So it is possible to have been quarantined.

Why on earth would you swear in an email to your partner's work?

Polarbearflavour · 13/02/2019 20:50

If he works in the military, I can state that MoD IT is really poor! I spent hours a day on the Internet and applied for jobs at work and it was never picked up.

justasking111 · 13/02/2019 20:50

E mails with those words in would not get to the inbox where I work. The ones held back are also checked.

justasking111 · 13/02/2019 20:51

Should say my old place of work was loosely connected to the military.

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 13/02/2019 20:51

Some workplaces have filters - DHs screen out all swear words, as have some of my employers. They go into the quarantine box and you have to actually ask for them to be released.

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 13/02/2019 20:53

My employer screens profanities, dodgy links, anything it thinks is adult content and most attachments.

This. One of mine once got screened because I was talking about an early morning waking and put 'cock a doodle doo'.

TheDarkPassenger · 13/02/2019 20:55

An email like that wouldn’t make it through my email (police)

But it also sounds like he’s having you on too.

Send the profanities to his personal email, although I suspect he’ll continue to make up bullshit excuses

Alondonleerie · 13/02/2019 21:25

MrsTerry wouldn't have expected that!
Yes, neverHmm but he's also telling me that he has been told that the language wouldn't have stopped them getting through, and the dept concerned have said there's no reason they wouldn't get through.

He knows he'll have to answer at some point, whether it's when he has access to personal mail again or when he gets home. It winds me up more having to wait. And I also am pretty pissed off at having long stretches without regular communication. If work wants to quarantine work emails, fine. It's really shoddy that there's no alternative method of communication though. So much for them looking after the wider naval family. They don't give a monkeys.

Oh, and the profanity isn't a usual thing at all. None in emails for 20 years (if email went back that far!), until the recent info coming to light. And that's only after he's ducked and dived around answering straightforward questions with something different. So yes, I can well believe he's ignoring it.

scaryteacher · 13/02/2019 22:27

No alternative method of communication depends what he's doing surely, and what state of readiness his unit is at? I used to go two months without any communication from dh, as it was a tad difficult when he was stooging around somewhere under the ocean.

If he's not a submariner, then presumably, he can write a letter and get it posted and you can of course write to him....

CloserIAm2Fine · 13/02/2019 22:42

My employer screens out profanity and images its software thinks could be dodgy (I think it judges on flesh tones as perfectly legitimate photos of people’s driving licences or passports are frequently flagged as potentially inappropriate)

Alondonleerie · 13/02/2019 22:42

scary there's not much point in letter writing if they aren't going to be able to post it for a while/it won't get to you for a while. At present, they're at sea on average a fortnight at a time, so only work email. Can use their own devices and therefore personal email when they get closer in to shore the following weekend. That's all fine when everything's going OK, but when you've just found out some other shit and desperately want answers through a conversation which hasn't got weekly gaps between replies - not helpful at all.

CloserIAm2Fine · 13/02/2019 22:43

Sorry, so to answer your question I would be surprised if the military doesn’t also filter such things tbh

But I would also be surprised if your husband is telling the truth about any of it!
