sunnysunchild · 13/02/2019 13:15

She has mahoosive knockers..
Last measured at 30D and a teeny body size 6. She is spilling out of m&s teen braa
Where should I take her?? Bravissimo?
Help!

Thanks... will see if she'll let me near her with a tape measure.

At a size 6 I imagine she doesn't measure 30 under her bust, probably more like 26. I had to recently get dd an underwired bra. She measures as 28E but found a 30DD more comfortable. I'll link to what I ordered (first one from figleaves but ordered 2 more cheaper from Amazon)

Try a wireless but very supportive one from
M&S

I wear this - they uplift and support but are not too ‘booby’ which might be better ? Just try on a few sizes

alwaysdancing · 13/02/2019 13:44

Freya Deco bras are nice and plain, if she’s not keen on lace etc. and they do a decent range of sizes (e.g. small back/larger cup). I got mine from Bravissimo (great fitting service too) and from Debenhams.

Hotterthanahotthing · 13/02/2019 13:48

Her boobs probably aren't huge just her back size small. We struggled to get DD non underworld bras when she was a 28c.Its only got easier than she got to back size 30.She has m&s one ATM but the Angel range we found not great.
The secret support vests are also good,DD uses them as extra support for sport and as atshurt without bra in summer.

thesockgap · 13/02/2019 13:52

Echoing the posters who say a size 6 is unlikely to be a 30 back. And 30D is NOT a big boobed size.... I'm currently a size 12 and wearing 30G, my boobs are far from massive.
If your daughter is reluctant to be measured again by a member of shop staff, would she allow you to help her measure herself? Using the boob or bust method as described above. Whatever you do, don't get her measured at M&S!!

Blueuggboots · 13/02/2019 13:56

DO NOT TAKE HER TO M&S FOR A FITTING

this!!!

MachinicianMagician · 13/02/2019 13:59

Not sure why underwire is a problem? Let her try out a range of underwire and wire-free bras and let her decide which ones she likes or finds comfortable. I dont think parents should have any input on underwear choices.

Lonecatwithkitten · 13/02/2019 14:03

DD is a similar size and we found Debenhams very good. She is a musical theatre performer so used to having tape measures on her all the time.
Debenhams have some nice underwired relatively plain bras that she likes. I am a 30F and go to bravissimo I not yet ready to spend the £30 a bra at the rate she claims to need a new bra.

sunnysunchild · 13/02/2019 14:14

Ok I should have modified my language choice... I just have a tendency to write as I speak.

She's much bigger than me now or than I was at that age. So hence my mahoosive comment. Just tried boob or bust, and they've come up with 28E..
No bras in that size in m&s lol
She doesn't like the thought of underwire and but I think she might be a bit more comfortable. I thought I'd read somewhere that underwires were bad when still growing?
She just wants plain everything, no lace or bows or fancy bits.
Thanks for helpful comments!Grin

Debenhams do good supportive bras without underwires. (I can't wear underwires because I am a manual wheelchair user and underwires cut into me when self propelling)

Comefromaway · 13/02/2019 14:32

I read that the issue with underwires is that if a child has a bit of a growth spurt or sudden change in size then the underwire can dig into the breast if it no longer fits properly. There is nothing wrong with a well fitting underwire bra on a teen.

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/02/2019 14:35

Underwires are fine as long as they fit well.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 13/02/2019 14:37

I have a small back and big boobs, plain cup design underwires will be her friend. I was a 32 DD at 11. Might seem pretty "normal" to most but they were certainly mahoosive knockers on an 11yo. And that is a term I've used to describe my own cleavage, since my teen years.

Good luck OP. I like Fantasie or Freya bras for my boobs. Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 13/02/2019 14:40

Freya deco is fab.

Excited101 · 13/02/2019 14:51

Poor dd, other than the size (mine never went beyond A/B cup) I was exactly the same as your dd- totally and utterly mortified by the whole thing. I’d offer advice but just respect it, grin and bear it and soon she’ll be a bit less embarrassed by her self!

Eddie16 · 13/02/2019 15:45

Hi,I was a bra fitter in John Lewis. When I was there about 3 years ago fitting bras,we didn't recommend wire bras for young girls as it can be painful for growing girls. Please take her somewhere like bravissimo or a john Lewis as m&s are not great at fitting or if possible, try and get a tape round her while she is wearing a bra to get a back size measurement and then take her somewhere to judge cup size.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 13/02/2019 17:05

I’m was that size at that age so understand!

Debenhams to a fab range, and if you look on eBay you will find many of last seasons at a decent price

Avoid M&S to be measured/ at 16 they told me I was a 32B, I went in wearing a 32DD! I queried and they said they were right, went and got me bras to try I, and I burst out laughing at the sales women’s face when I pulled back the curtain and my nipples were hardly covered and I was spilling out from the sides and back. Never went back again!

Bramissivo- if you have one near, or order a few sizes and send back

Figleaf- as above

John Lewis- do some nice ones, but can be pricey

New Look- I think does her size, of it’s the right size she is wearing

ASDA- the large one near me used to do up to a G cup in lovely bras, ones with cute patterns, underwired, and I would say really teen friendly. I haven’t been in a while so don’t know if they still do, but they don’t do them on line unfortunately! (Typical!)

I can’t think of anywhere else. But once you know her size, eBay and Amazon are good to look for larger sizes at a decent price. I’m a GG and I buy a new matching set every other month, and pay about £25 in total.
Hope you find some!!

DaisyDreaming · 13/02/2019 17:10

Have you measured her back size? 30 inches doesn’t sound like a tiny size 6 person. Was this measured with the old method of adding a certain amount of inches or by a shop which fitted her to the closet size they had in stock?

negomi90 · 13/02/2019 17:12

Figleaves - really good return policy, you can buy a bunch try them on and then return them.
Also they have a lot of nice, non frilly underwire bras in 28 D-G (I'm in one now :) )

Punstow61 · 13/02/2019 17:43

Definitely Bravissimo. They’ll be kind and supportive and give her lots of advice if she’s worried about having larger boobs. Don’t go to M&S.

thecatsthecats · 13/02/2019 19:56

Serious HmmConfusedHmmHmm at mumsnet repeatedly but not explicitly touting M&S when I know no one who speaks well of them.

They tried to sell me the wrong size as a teen and embarrassed me into the bargain.

Absolutely shocking that they haven't improved in DECADES and yet mumsnet give them the green light for no good reason Hmm

Romanticrights · 13/02/2019 20:04

Definitely try her Boob or Bust size. Boux Avenue are known to be smaller on the back so might be a good place to try. eBay might also be a good shout! Brastop have a good selection online too!

blessedmummyov5 · 13/02/2019 20:09

At her age she wud prob be more comfy with sports bras I'm a 36h and I hate wire bras they dig in sports bras r comfy and don't look like bras more like crop tops x
