To ask about gallbladder surgery recovery

Posting here as we are getting desperate. My mum had larcopsy surgery to remove gallbladder in November.
It now transpires she has lots of dry skin which the nurses are coming every 2-3 days to pick it off.
Is this normal? I do have a photo of her wound, incase it would help to see it. It's also still getting covered with a bandage. Can we have tips on how to get this to heal please?

I think the big scar is from the vacuum pump they put in for the infection. And/or she started out having a laparoscopy and they had to convert to a laparotomy during the surgery.

It can take a long time to recover from the type of infection than needs a vacuum pump. My mum had one after heart surgery and was in and out of hospital for months.

I think you need a referral back to the surgeon who dealt with the pump.

The skin can be reacting with the glue on the wound protection plasters. It looks very similar to issues I've seen before.

Ask for a different brand of plaster maybe?

Looks like laparotomy. She doesnt seem to have keyhole incisions
