Any electronics types about? What is this?

Pic hopefully attached.

What is this component called and where can I buy one?

One white, one uncovered

No pic.

Hopefully it attached on my second message if not let me know

What’s it in/part of? Also what’s the writing bottom left corner say?

Noloudnoises · 12/02/2019 21:34

What is it in? Sorry need to give more context

Heratnumber7 · 12/02/2019 21:36

What's it come out of?

SandAndSea · 12/02/2019 21:39

What does the device do?

lljkk · 12/02/2019 21:42

speakers attached to a circuit board? DH = elec. enginr

Hermano · 12/02/2019 21:59

Oh god I left loads of important info out! This is what happens when I mumsnet whole watching TV and trying to mend a circuit all at the same time!

It's out of an ikea toy kitchen, the famous duktig

The bits light up I assume they should both be covered and one is missing its cover for some reason. The uncovered one you can see small lights in the middle if you know what you're looking at.

I don't think they make any noise, but I haven't got the bloody thing working yet so not 100% sure!

OP posts:
Hermano · 12/02/2019 22:00

Writing on circuit board refers to the manufacturer who made this bit, which is separate to the big white speaker looking lights, though it does feed power to light them

BoomBoomsCousin · 12/02/2019 22:05

So those are low voltage LED lights attached to a circuit board?

Is it just the lights you want to replace or the whole circuit board/light contraption?

lljkk · 12/02/2019 22:14

Idealistic young DH used to try hard to repair this kind of thing.
Sensible older DH knows where the bin is.

Hermano · 12/02/2019 22:21

I'm not sure yet BoomBoom. I'm going to try one other bit first but I wondered if the lights are cheap to replace in car my other fix doesn't work

I'm hoping the set up of three LEDs in that dish with a cover on can be bought as it is, so that's really what I was hoping someone could identify for me

OP posts:
Hermano · 12/02/2019 22:22

lljkk lol!

It's my first time doing this kind of thing. I'm really enjoying it at the moment. We'll see how long that lasts...

Highly doubt the whole assembly can be bought - are you sure it's faulty?
LEDs are pretty reliable - much more likely to be something on the driver board that's faulty.

BoomBoomsCousin · 12/02/2019 22:36

You're really not being super clear OP!

You want replace the light? Is that because it doesn't light up or because it isn't covered? If it doesn't light, does the other light work? Have you tried replacing the working light with the one not working to check whether it's the light or the board?

Agree that finding it as a component is likely to be difficult. Ikea aren't really known for their adherence to standards or use of standard parts. If it is a part available to be bought than somewhere on it there will probably be some kind of part no. Probably very tiny. Try and find that and shove it into google.

Hermano · 12/02/2019 23:12

I just want to know what the light thing is called, eg tri-speaker-led or something. That's all. I'm fiddling around and trying a few fixes and I wondered what to search for online as I'm putting in an order for 45p worth of components with £2 shipping so thought if I could add a couple of lights to my basket for 30p each I might as well.

That's all - as per my OP - wondering what the white thing with lights in is called

OP posts:
Hermano · 12/02/2019 23:14

I don't want to take it off the board to look for post number hence hoping to find a shortcut. Sounds like that's not possible on this occasion.

Thanks for all your input. I'll put my tiny order in and hope it's really fixed with new buttons instead

It's the hob from the kitchen isn't it. I looked at a picture of the toy on ikeas website. If so they are both lights which make the hob glow.
You may have a problem getting the correct LED's though as they must match the voltage and the chips. can you solder? because you may need to.

fieldfaresareback · 13/02/2019 07:22

Right so... assuming the issue is not in the board itself- test this by swapping the white plug from the other LED module with the one that’s broken.
If that one works you should now have the broken one disconnected and it look like a screw holds the little 3 LED module in the housing so unscrew it.
I expect the 3 LEDs are connected by their tails on a small round circuit which is likely to have resistors (but may not depending on the voltage of the LEDs).
You’d need to know the output voltage of the circuit board ideally. E.g if output is 12V (unlikely in a toy but for explanation purposes) then for a 5V LED you would place a 470 ohm resistor in line with one of the LED tails. LEDs have short and long tails- long being the positive terminal, that needs to go to the positive wire from power. A multimeter is useful and in most cases the LED will glow faintly when the probes are applied in correct orientation.

Perhaps post a picture of the underside of the LEDs to show the soldering and any resistors etc...

easyandy101 · 13/02/2019 07:33

It's a 3 led reflector

Agree with pp that's it's less likely to be the problem than the board itself

I'd check connections and if there was nothing obvious I'd bin that whole bit and if it only does lighting and you're determined to get it to work id replace it with a simple psu and light arrangement. You could probably keep the actual reflectors cos I'm guessing they

easyandy101 · 13/02/2019 07:33

Fit

Hermano · 16/02/2019 16:51

In case anyone is interested I mended the hob! Without changing the lights, yay!

If anyone else is having this issue let me know and I'm very happy to share the wisdom of my experience Grin
