I called an estate agents yesterday afternoon to enquire about an apartment in the same block/floor as us.

Great news, they could show us yesterday evening.

We looked round, liked what we saw, showed the EA our place and said from the get go what we would like for our place, (based on similar apartment sales in the block) and what we would offer for the other place (based on an identical sale 3 months ago). The chap showing us around deals with lettings (call him LM) but said he would speak with his sales chap (call him SM) tomorrow (today) and that he, LM, might even give me a call to update.

Basically I had heard anything by 10am so called and spoke to LM who said he has spoken to SM and that SM said he could "sort something out" for us and that he, SM, would call me either today or tomorrow.

I've still heard nothing. I called at 2ish and asked was SM available and was told he was out all day giving viewings. I explained the above and said I would really appreciate a call today, just so we know whether what we are proposing is even do-able.

Still nothing.

I have been fortunate to only be involved in 1 house purchase with no chain involved either way so I don't know if this is normal - not to call a prospective client - even just to say "Hey, it's SM here. I'm out all day but I will call you tomorrow"

So, is this the norm, or is this shit service, already?

You're being quite unreasonable. Probably best you don't move until you're able to be less anxious during the process.

I totally understand about two lots of commission, but maybe it's not as high an amount as you think it is.

I've never seen such a major turnaround just because someone hadn't received a phone call back.
Jeez, give them a chance - you're probably one of many, many calls they need to make.

Sounds like you're better not moving until you've learned to be a little less self centred and more considerate of others.
