To be worried they won't be allowed in?

My mum has bought my daughter and niece tickets to an Ed Sheeran concert this summer.
I've read that a lot of artists, especially Ed, are insisting on photo id with the tickets to allow entry to stop ticket resale etc. so I'm worried they'll be turned away on the day.
Will they get in? There must be a way around this because concert tickets are often given as gifts?

contact the venue, they'll be able to advise you.

IceRebel · 12/02/2019 10:48

They should be ok, providing they are taken to the concert by your mum

Only the matching ID of the surname of the lead booker will be an entry requirement, the other tickets bought under that name can be given to other people as long as they arrive with the lead booker. The lead booker may also escort gift recipients to the gate for them to gain entry as long as they have the necessary entry requirements.

Although I say that but actually it also depend on their ages, i'm guessing they are younger than 16, if so they need to be accompanied by an adult.

*Under 16s should be accompanied by an adult. No children under 5.

If you are looking to purchase tickets on behalf of 16-18 year olds who do not have access to a credit card we recommend that the card holder attend the show with the group. Alternatively, we will allow a parent or guardian to escort customers aged 16-18 to the gates on the day with their credit or debit card and ID to allow them entry to the show. Please note that the parent or guardian will not be permitted to enter the show unless they also have a ticket.

They're 20 and 19. My mum is not very mobile so I don't think she'll be able to escort them to the gate. She and my daughter do have the same surname though so my daughters own id should be sufficient...?

I would say your mum would still need to be there, as she is the one who purchased the tickets. She would need to show photo ID (passport, driving license etc) booking confirmation, and the original card they were booked with.

The venue will be able to tell you, just give them a call.

MyDcAreMarvel · 12/02/2019 11:11

It’s ID not person that’s necessary if your daughter takes her ID and your mums it will be fine. Preferably the credit card tickets were booked on.

MyDcAreMarvel · 12/02/2019 11:12

Plus driving license or bus pass.

GottaLoveAnOtter · 12/02/2019 11:12

If they were bought through Ticketmaster you can download a letter of authorisation from the Ticketmaster website which your mum can fill in, and your daughter can take with her.

I went to Ed S at Wembley with my friend's ticket, they didn't check anything just scanned them in

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 12/02/2019 11:40

I don't know OP

My DM used her bank card to buy 4 tickets for me and 3 of my DCs , to go to Dreamland last August . We had a print off of it but not Mums card and we got in fine . However, you say that this states ID should be provided so might just be best to ring them or/and could DM walk to the entrance to see them in ? Can you park in a disabled bay , if she has a blue badge, close to the entrance etc ?

Basecamp65 · 12/02/2019 11:44

I go to gigs of all sizes a couple of times a month and have never been asked for photo ID.

It is normally only ever the credit card the tickets are purchased with and this is only occasionally. I buy tickets for other people as well and we never need to be together to go in - although may do to collect tickets.

Call the venue and ask to put your mind at rest but it will probably not be an issue.

sickmumma · 12/02/2019 11:59

My brother brought me and OH tickets last year, we took a photocopy of his card, print out of the booking reference etc but tbh they didn't ask to see it we just showed the tickets and went in!

Toooldtocareanymore · 12/02/2019 12:04

my daughter went to see Ed last year with a friend, she was very worried about this, I had bought tickets for her birthday gift on behalf of my dad, so I was cardholder I just gave her a photocopy of the front of my card , I split info over two pages so she could keep separate, ( only half number per page) but as her surname and mine are same I didn't think it would be a problem, on day they didn't check her ticket, her friend said they did check one man in queue who had been hanging around the gate area for 20 minutes while she waited for my daughter, but then went in on his own,
