My 12 year old wants to download this new game. Apparently it’s the new fortnite. Has anyone allowed their kids to have it?

See these posts on here from time to time. Should I let my child play X ?

The industry recognises there is an issue with parents being able to assess whether media is suitable for viewing/usage by minors, and has come up with rating schemes to help parents. It's especially difficult in video games, where you might have to play a game for hours if not days, and then still not see the entire range of topics addressed or behaviour displayed. In some games you might have to play the game several times in order to see all endings/pathways.

These ratings are compiled by experts/psychologists in the field. In addition, games manufacturers are aware of how their content affects the rating, and can actually adjust their content to meet various ratings, so if they choose not to do so it's because they are specifically choosing to not make their product compliant with a particular rating because they want to address a particular target market.

I'm still trying to figure out why some people might believe asking randoms on the internet whether a game is suitable for their child is better than taking the advice that is formulated by experts, and exists for the very purpose of helping parents decide.
